For Vaslui Employers
Vaslui carries the highest registered unemployment of any county in Romania, several times the national low, and the lowest output per head in Nord-Est. On paper that is the largest pool of available people in the region. What the county does not have is infrastructure: no motorway in any section, open or planned, no confirmed industrial park or logistics zone, and no named local haulier that could be sourced. Two Moldovan border posts sit on its eastern edge.
A real vacancy, published • Applications straight to you • Work permission guidance agreed separately
Vaslui is a poor agricultural and light industrial county on the Prut, with mechanical components, chemicals, food and textiles in its base and three municipalities carrying most of its population. Driver work here is recruited into the county as much as generated by it.
Say categoria C+E or categoria C explicitly, state whether the atestat profesional marfă is needed on the start date or can follow, and put the vacancy at www.fastdriver.eu/jobs/romania where candidates in the county are already searching.
What we are not, stated plainly: FastDriver.eu is not a recruitment agency and does not operate as an agent de muncă temporară. It takes on no driver as an employee, places nobody with you and brokers nobody. Hiring here is entirely your own act.
One thing worth weighing before reading too much into the headline: registered unemployment counts people signed on with the employment agency, and in rural Romania many people neither work nor register. The real figure is likely higher and the pool less job ready than the number suggests. More on the national layer sits on the Romania employer page.
Vacancies reaching drivers in Vaslui come from national and international operators recruiting into the county, from the county's own plants and food businesses, and from local distribution around its three towns.
Extern categoria C+E work on western European routes. At least one international operator already advertises this work into Vaslui on a daily allowance basis, which tells an employer that national recruiters treat this county as a source. Expect candidates to compare rotations closely.
Domestic categoria C+E work serving the county's mechanical component, chemical and food producers and trunking out to customers elsewhere in Romania. The honest selling point is home time, and the advert should quantify it rather than describe it.
Rigid distribution around Vaslui, Bârlad and Huși on categoria C with the atestat marfă. Intern, multi-drop, long rural legs between drops. This is the role most likely to be filled by someone already living in the county rather than returning to it.
Romanian operators do advertise for newly qualified drivers, as șoferi începători on categoria C+E. In the county with the largest registered labour slack in Romania this is the route that actually expands the pool, so say whether mentoring, a second driver period or training support is offered.
Yard and warehouse lifting work, usually advertised with loading duties attached. In Romania the forklift ticket is a state authorisation held by the individual rather than an employer permission, so ask for the autorizație de stivuitorist by name and check it is in date.
With so little published about haulage in this county, candidates judge an employer almost entirely on the advert. Be specific about the vehicle, the rota, the licence category and how the pay is built, and avoid implying local depot work that does not exist.
Vaslui city sits centrally in the county with Bârlad to the south and Huși to the east towards the Prut, and the eastern boundary is the Moldovan frontier. For a driver, these are three separate catchments rather than one: the roads between them are national and the rural distances are long.
Bârlad is the southern centre and the county's second municipality, closer to the Galați direction than to Vaslui city. A vacancy based in one should not assume candidates from the other will travel daily.
Huși sits towards the Prut in the east, with the Albița crossing beyond it on the Moldovan frontier and a second post towards Leova. Work routed east crosses an external border every time, in both directions.
The county holds three municipalities, two towns and over eighty communes, so most of the population is rural. A depot advert that states the shift start and whether travel is supported will reach a far wider catchment than one that does not.
No part of Vaslui sits near a motorway, and none is planned here. Every domestic journey out of the county runs on national road for its whole length, which should be built into delivery windows rather than discovered later.
Driver work differs sharply between the capital ring, the Black Sea port, the western gateway counties and the eastern border. Open another county to see the hiring information that applies there.
Romanian drivers search in Romanian. An advert written only in English will miss most of the domestic market.
Sofer profesionist is the dominant advert title. Sofer TIR signals international work and is read that way immediately. Sofer camion and sofer de distributie name the vehicle and the job. Conducator auto is the formal register that appears in documents and regulations rather than in adverts.
Intern or extern is the first thing a Romanian driver looks for, because it decides whether they are home each night or away for weeks. Put it in the headline. An advert that leaves it out collects applications from people who withdraw once they find out.
Pe comunitate is the phrase that signals the well paid international segment. It is worth using where it is true, and worth avoiding where it is not, because drivers treat it as a promise about earnings.
Write the licence as C+E. That form appears far more often in real adverts than CE, by a wide margin, and writing it the other way marks an advert as drafted by someone outside the trade.
The qualification is the atestat profesional, for marfa or for persoane. Adverts list it alongside the card tahograf and ADR where the load requires it. Name only what the role genuinely needs.
Pay needs two numbers, not one. Salary and diurna are quoted separately in Romanian adverts, and for international work the daily allowance is a very large part of what a driver actually takes home. An advert that gives only the salary reads as badly paid even when it is not.
Romanian drivers read an advert for the route, the vehicle, the time away and the two pay figures. An advert that answers those four things gets better applications than one that lists benefits.
FastDriver.eu operates as a European driver job portal and allows candidates elsewhere in Europe and in eligible international markets to find and apply for suitable Romanian vacancies.
Start by ignoring most of what is published about this, because the system changed. The separate work permit that employers used to apply for has been abolished and replaced by a single application filed on a state platform. The old route was switched off months before the new platform opened, so guidance written before the change is not just dated, it describes a procedure that no longer exists.
Drivers sit on the shortage occupations list, which is the gate for the main employment route. For a haulier that is genuinely good news and it is the part of the system working in your favour.
The real barrier is not the paperwork. Filing directly requires a trading history, an average headcount above a published threshold and a financial guarantee for each worker. Most Romanian hauliers sit below that headcount, which means they cannot file at all and must go through a licensed placement agency instead. Check which side of that line your company falls on before you plan anything else, because it changes the whole approach.
The annual quota is a single national figure rather than a transport allocation, and it was cut rather than raised. A large share of it is consumed well before the year ends, so an application late in the cycle competes for what is left.
Employers in Vaslui may receive applications from drivers based in Romania, elsewhere in the EU and EEA, Switzerland, the wider European region, Asia, Africa, Gulf countries, North America, Latin America and other eligible international markets.
EU, EEA and Swiss citizens may work in Romania without an authorisation. A Moldovan national holding Romanian citizenship is an EU citizen and needs nothing, while one without it faces full external border checks, because the Romanian border with Moldova is now a Schengen external frontier. The difference is large and it is worth establishing early in a conversation rather than late.
The employment contract has to reach the national register before the driver starts work, not afterwards. The register changed name and platform recently, and the penalties for undeclared work are severe with a high ceiling, so this is not a formality to leave until the first week.
A candidate's ability to work here depends on nationality, residence status, professional qualifications, driving licence validity and the requirements of the individual position. Nationality alone never settles it. Drivers can check their own position through our driving licence eligibility guidance.
FastDriver.eu can provide process guidance and document coordination when a candidate needs support. It does not make government decisions and cannot promise an approval.
Name the licence category in the advert. A Romanian driver reads it first, and C+E in the headline tells them immediately whether the job is theirs.
Freight work uses C and C+E, with C1 and C1E for lighter rigid vehicles. Passenger transport uses D and D1.
Age limits matter when you are planning a pipeline. C1 and C1E open at eighteen, C and C+E at twenty one and reduce to eighteen for a driver holding the professional qualification. D and DE open at twenty four and reduce to twenty one on the same basis. Heavy categories run five years.
Romania asks for something most member states do not. A professional driver needs an annual medical check and an annual psychological check, and the psychological opinion is also part of the file for exchanging a foreign licence. Employers arriving from elsewhere in the EU are regularly caught out by it.
The atestat profesional is issued by the national road authority, separately for goods and for passengers, and renewed every five years. A shorter conversion route exists for a driver moving between the two, so an experienced goods driver is not starting again to work on passenger transport.
Foreign licences need checking before you make an offer. EU and EEA licences exchange without a test. Beyond that it depends on whether the issuing country appears on the convention or reciprocity lists, and where it does not the driver sits the Romanian theory and practical examination, which they may now do without compulsory driving school.
Several of the countries Romanian hauliers recruit from most heavily could not be found on those exchange lists. That is not a conclusion that they are absent, but it does mean the question has to be settled for the specific country before a contract is signed, not assumed.
A professional qualification obtained outside the EU or EEA is not recognised here. An experienced driver arriving from outside Europe takes the Romanian qualification whatever they held before.
This is where the real timeline lives, and it is longer than most employers expect. The driver attestation that a Romanian operator needs in order to put a third country national on international work requires a Romanian licence and the professional qualification. A newly arrived driver has neither. The tachograph card also requires the work authorisation first. So the sequence is admission, then licence, then qualification, then attestation, and an employer who budgets only for the visa will be short by months.
One thing works in your favour. The professional examinations have been made available in English, which was done specifically to serve drivers recruited from South and South East Asia, so the qualification stage no longer requires Romanian first.
Unlike several other member states, the forklift authorisation in Romania is a genuine state authorisation issued to the individual rather than a permission the employer grants. ADR is required where the load needs it. Verifying the original documents remains the employer's responsibility.
Vaslui holds two Schengen external border posts towards the Republic of Moldova: Albița to Leușeni, and the Bumbata to Leova post. Both carry full external checks in both directions, unlike the Hungarian frontier to the west where checks on persons have been removed. Which of the two is open to heavy goods vehicles, and under what weight limits, could not be verified, and nothing available supports a lorry waiting time for either, so routing should be confirmed with the border police before a vehicle is committed. Vaslui is also absent from the motorway programme entirely, so no part of a domestic journey from this county begins on motorway.

Candidates apply for suitable positions. The employer reviews their information, conducts interviews and makes the final hiring decision.
FastDriver.eu does not become the employer. It does not replace the company's legal responsibility for candidate verification, employment contracts, remuneration or working conditions.
Employers that can consider international drivers should clearly state whether work authorisation guidance, visa process support, accommodation or relocation assistance is available.
This information must reflect the employer's actual offer. It must not be added only for search visibility.
Tell us how many drivers you need, the base or town they work from, the licence category, experience, routes, language requirements and proposed employment conditions.
Our team reviews your company details and checks that the vacancy contains what a Romanian driver needs in order to apply with confidence, including the category, whether the work is intern or extern, the atestat position, and salary and diurna stated separately.
The vacancy is prepared, published and promoted according to the selected employer option.
Drivers apply through the platform. The employer reviews applications, communicates with suitable candidates and arranges interviews.
The employer makes the final hiring decision, verifies the candidate and signs the employment contract directly with the selected driver.

In registered unemployment, Vaslui is the highest of any Romanian county, several times the national low in Bucharest and well above every other county in Nord-Est. Treat it as a strong signal rather than a precise measurement: registered unemployment counts people signed on with the employment agency, and in rural Romania many people neither work nor register, so the real level is probably higher still.
By output per head, it is the lowest in the region, at a little over two-fifths of the national figure, and average earnings here sit in the bottom national band alongside Botoșani and Suceava. For a haulier,r that means a serious driver package is far above the local alternative. It also means fewer people have had the means or reason to train for categoria C+E.
Two, both towards the Republic of Moldova: Albița to Leușei, and Bumbata to Leși. Both are external borders of the Schengen area with full checks. Albița is widely assumed to be the main freight crossing on this frontier, but nothing we could source confirms it, so an operator should check with the border police which post takes heavy goods vehicles.
It appears in no section, whether open, under construction or planned. The A7 runs north through Bacău and Neamț into Iași county and onward towards Suceava, leaving Vaslui aside altogether. Combined with a national network where many roads are still unsurfaced, this makes journey times from this county longer than the map distance implies.
At least one international operator advertises category C+E community work in the county on a daily-allowance basis, which corroborates that recruiters treat Vaslui as a source county rather than overlooking it. That is two adverts, not a market sample, so it shows recruiter interest, not how much competition an employer will face here.
None could be confirmed: no named industrial park, logistics zone, distribution site, or local haulage employer in the county. The industry base is mechanical components, chemicals, food and textiles. An employer should therefore plan to recruit from the general labour market and to train, rather than expecting to hire experienced drivers away from an existing local fleet.
Vaslui city, Bârlad to the south, and Huși to the east; they function as separate labour markets, with two further towns and more than eighty communes around them. Bârlad, in particular, looks south rather than toward the county seat. Name the depot town explicitly, because county-level advert will read as vague to candidates here.
Citizenship decides the answer. A Moldovan holding Romanian citizenship is an EU citizen: no work permission is required, the quota does not apply, and crossing at Albița carries none of the external border formalities. A Moldovan without it faces full external checks and the third-country route, and may fall within an exemption whose current status must be checked against the law as it now reads. It is not established whether hauliers use this channel in volume.
By filing a single application on a state platform. The aviz de angajare was abolished,, and the platform replaced it, so any guidance referring to an avizdescribesg a repealed system. Because the new platform opened months after the old route closed, an employer should confirm the current requirements and realistic timings rather than relying on a published checklist.
If it sits below the employer threshold, yes, and the threshold,n ot the paperwork, is the real obstacle. To file directly, a company needs a trading history, an average headcount above a published figure, and a financial guarantee per worker. Most Romanian hauliers fall short on the headcount, which pushes them toward the licensed agency route. Confirm which applies before quoting a candidate a start date.
Goods and passenger driving occupations are on the published shortage occupations list, and that listing is the gate for the main employment route. It is eligibility, not preference: the annual quota is a single national figure with nothing reserved for transport, and a large part of it tends to be used well before the year ends, so when an application is filed matters.
Because the operator’s driver attestation for international work requires a Romanian driving licence and the professional qualification, and the tachograph card cannot be issued without the work authorisation already in place. A driver who has cleared immigration still cannot start community work until those stages are complete, so the realistic lead time is months rather than weeks.
Eighteen, if the driver holds the professional competence certificate; otherwise, twenty-one. Categoria C1 and C1E start at eighteen regardless, and the bus categories range from twenty-four to twenty-one with the certificate. In a county with this much registered slack, screening at 21 removes exactly the younger candidates most likely to train.
The national road authority issues the atestat profesional in goods and passenger versions, renewed every five years, together with the ADR attestation and the tachograph card. The driving licence comes from a different authority and is issued in the county where the driver lives. These are separate queues with separate fees, and we could not confirm where the road authority’s local provision sits in this county.
It should separate the two parts. The daily allowance for extern running, the diurnă, accounts for a very large share of what a Romanian international driver takes home, so the advert should state that it is paid in addition to salary. In the region's lowest-paid county, an advert showing only a salary line will be read as a domestic offer and dismissed.
It is a specialised job portal for driver vacancies. The employer publishes the role, applications come directly back, and the employer interviews, selects and signs the contract. There is no agency function and no agent de muncă temporară function here, and FastDriver.eu never becomes the employer. Guidance and document coordination where permission to work is needed come from a separate agreement, with no outcome promised.
Vaslui offers the largest registered labour slack in Romania and very little else to build on, so the advert has to carry the weight. State the vehicle, the route, the category and the pay structure, and applications will come to you.
Employers in Vaslui recruit, interview and employ their drivers themselves.
