For Maramureș Employers
Maramureș is a furniture and wood county with no motorway in it and none under construction, so everything leaves on national roads and the eastward route is a mountain pass. Its freight fills a trailer by volume long before it reaches a weight limit, which changes the equipment and the loading day. Half the county's employees work in Baia Mare alone and almost every enterprise is small, so the driver employer base is many small operators plus one concentration point. Emigration here is heavy and documented.
You write it, you own it • Direct applications, no shortlist imposed • Permission guidance under a separate agreement
Processing and manufacturing dominate employment here, led by furniture and wood, then electrical equipment and food. Non ferrous extraction around Baia Mare has declined over a long period. The freight profile is bulky and low density rather than heavy.
Name the combination and the qualification. Categoria C+E for articulated work, categoria C for a rigid, and say whether the atestat profesional for marfă is needed from the first day or can follow. Vacancies appear at www.fastdriver.eu/jobs/romania.
FastDriver.eu carries adverts and nothing else. It is not a recruitment agency and not an agent de muncă temporară, so it employs no drivers, leases none out, and takes no part in the contract you eventually sign with a candidate.
The local fact worth acting on: a German parcel operator advertises categoria B work in Germany, at German hourly rates with a regional allowance, against a Maramureș town of under twelve thousand people. That is the offer your advert sits beside. The rest of the national layer is on the Romania employer page.
Employers in Maramureș recruit șofer profesionist C+E for comunitate work, drivers for furniture and timber outbound loads, light commercial drivers on international runs, rigid drivers for local manufacturing, and courier drivers in Baia Mare.
The dominant advert in the county, on categoria C+E with the atestat profesional for marfă and a card tahograf valabil, with Spain, France and Italy among the named destinations. State the rotation and set the diurnă out separately from salary.
Volume freight rather than weight freight, which rewards curtainsider and high capacity trailers and makes loading time a real part of the shift. Say what the trailer is, who loads it and how long a load takes, because that is what distinguishes this work locally.
Smaller international work on categoria C, advertised in this county for vehicles in the middle weight band. Useful for a driver without C+E experience who wants extern running. Say the route, the frequency and whether the vehicle returns to the yard between trips.
Solo drivers and two person crews on light commercial vehicles running pe comunitate, which is a normal Romanian offer. Say which you want, because the pay and the week differ, and note that international running in this band now brings the driver card into play.
Delivery and platform courier work in Baia Mare and the larger towns, on categoria B, generally paid weekly. This is nearly the whole of the county's visible domestic market. Say the round, the start time and whether the vehicle is provided.
Intern work barely appears on this county's board except as local delivery, so if your vacancy is genuinely domestic, say so in the title and say what the driver gets instead of euros: nights at home, a fixed route, a newer vehicle.
The county sits between the Ukrainian frontier in the north and the mountains in the east, with Baia Mare in the west on the approach from Dej and Cluj-Napoca, and the Tisza towns strung along the valley beyond it. A driver here judges a job mainly by how far it is from Baia Mare.
Baia Mare holds about half of all employees in the county, so it is both the obvious place to advertise and the most contested. The county's urban working age population has fallen substantially over a decade.
Sighetu Marmației and the valley towns form a separate catchment on the far side of the county. The road there is national and slow, and a driver living in Sighet will not commute to Baia Mare daily.
Borșa and Vișeu de Sus sit at the eastern end, where the only through route runs over the Prislop pass towards Suceava. Mountain running experience is genuinely relevant there and worth asking about.
Smaller towns such as Târgu Lăpuș and villages like Leordina appear in driver adverts in their own right, which tells you where recruiters already believe the available drivers are living.
Driver work differs sharply between the capital ring, the Black Sea port, the western gateway counties and the eastern border. Open another county to see the hiring information that applies there.
Romanian drivers search in Romanian. An advert written only in English will miss most of the domestic market.
Sofer profesionist is the dominant advert title. Sofer TIR signals international work and is read that way immediately. Sofer camion and sofer de distributie name the vehicle and the job. Conducator auto is the formal register that appears in documents and regulations rather than in adverts.
Intern or extern is the first thing a Romanian driver looks for, because it decides whether they are home each night or away for weeks. Put it in the headline. An advert that leaves it out collects applications from people who withdraw once they find out.
Pe comunitate is the phrase that signals the well paid international segment. It is worth using where it is true, and worth avoiding where it is not, because drivers treat it as a promise about earnings.
Write the licence as C+E. That form appears far more often in real adverts than CE, by a wide margin, and writing it the other way marks an advert as drafted by someone outside the trade.
The qualification is the atestat profesional, for marfa or for persoane. Adverts list it alongside the card tahograf and ADR where the load requires it. Name only what the role genuinely needs.
Pay needs two numbers, not one. Salary and diurna are quoted separately in Romanian adverts, and for international work the daily allowance is a very large part of what a driver actually takes home. An advert that gives only the salary reads as badly paid even when it is not.
Romanian drivers read an advert for the route, the vehicle, the time away and the two pay figures. An advert that answers those four things gets better applications than one that lists benefits.
Extern running dominates this county's advert board so completely that intern appears almost only as local delivery and platform courier work. The words that get read are comunitate, extern and tur-retur. The complication here is that western European employers advertise into the same towns in the same vocabulary, including a German parcel operator quoting German hourly rates, so a local advert using only generic phrasing is competing against a named foreign employer with a concrete figure.
FastDriver.eu operates as a European driver job portal and allows candidates elsewhere in Europe and in eligible international markets to find and apply for suitable Romanian vacancies.
Start by ignoring most of what is published about this, because the system changed. The separate work permit that employers used to apply for has been abolished and replaced by a single application filed on a state platform. The old route was switched off months before the new platform opened, so guidance written before the change is not just dated, it describes a procedure that no longer exists.
Drivers sit on the shortage occupations list, which is the gate for the main employment route. For a haulier that is genuinely good news and it is the part of the system working in your favour.
The real barrier is not the paperwork. Filing directly requires a trading history, an average headcount above a published threshold and a financial guarantee for each worker. Most Romanian hauliers sit below that headcount, which means they cannot file at all and must go through a licensed placement agency instead. Check which side of that line your company falls on before you plan anything else, because it changes the whole approach.
The annual quota is a single national figure rather than a transport allocation, and it was cut rather than raised. A large share of it is consumed well before the year ends, so an application late in the cycle competes for what is left.
Employers in Maramureș may receive applications from drivers based in Romania, elsewhere in the EU and EEA, Switzerland, the wider European region, Asia, Africa, Gulf countries, North America, Latin America and other eligible international markets.
EU, EEA and Swiss citizens may work in Romania without an authorisation. A Moldovan national holding Romanian citizenship is an EU citizen and needs nothing, while one without it faces full external border checks, because the Romanian border with Moldova is now a Schengen external frontier. The difference is large and it is worth establishing early in a conversation rather than late.
The employment contract has to reach the national register before the driver starts work, not afterwards. The register changed name and platform recently, and the penalties for undeclared work are severe with a high ceiling, so this is not a formality to leave until the first week.
A candidate's ability to work here depends on nationality, residence status, professional qualifications, driving licence validity and the requirements of the individual position. Nationality alone never settles it. Drivers can check their own position through our driving licence eligibility guidance.
FastDriver.eu can provide process guidance and document coordination when a candidate needs support. It does not make government decisions and cannot promise an approval.
Name the licence category in the advert. A Romanian driver reads it first, and C+E in the headline tells them immediately whether the job is theirs.
Freight work uses C and C+E, with C1 and C1E for lighter rigid vehicles. Passenger transport uses D and D1.
Age limits matter when you are planning a pipeline. C1 and C1E open at eighteen, C and C+E at twenty one and reduce to eighteen for a driver holding the professional qualification. D and DE open at twenty four and reduce to twenty one on the same basis. Heavy categories run five years.
Romania asks for something most member states do not. A professional driver needs an annual medical check and an annual psychological check, and the psychological opinion is also part of the file for exchanging a foreign licence. Employers arriving from elsewhere in the EU are regularly caught out by it.
The atestat profesional is issued by the national road authority, separately for goods and for passengers, and renewed every five years. A shorter conversion route exists for a driver moving between the two, so an experienced goods driver is not starting again to work on passenger transport.
Foreign licences need checking before you make an offer. EU and EEA licences exchange without a test. Beyond that it depends on whether the issuing country appears on the convention or reciprocity lists, and where it does not the driver sits the Romanian theory and practical examination, which they may now do without compulsory driving school.
Several of the countries Romanian hauliers recruit from most heavily could not be found on those exchange lists. That is not a conclusion that they are absent, but it does mean the question has to be settled for the specific country before a contract is signed, not assumed.
A professional qualification obtained outside the EU or EEA is not recognised here. An experienced driver arriving from outside Europe takes the Romanian qualification whatever they held before.
This is where the real timeline lives, and it is longer than most employers expect. The driver attestation that a Romanian operator needs in order to put a third country national on international work requires a Romanian licence and the professional qualification. A newly arrived driver has neither. The tachograph card also requires the work authorisation first. So the sequence is admission, then licence, then qualification, then attestation, and an employer who budgets only for the visa will be short by months.
One thing works in your favour. The professional examinations have been made available in English, which was done specifically to serve drivers recruited from South and South East Asia, so the qualification stage no longer requires Romanian first.
Unlike several other member states, the forklift authorisation in Romania is a genuine state authorisation issued to the individual rather than a permission the employer grants. ADR is required where the load needs it. Verifying the original documents remains the employer's responsibility.
The Romania to Ukraine road crossing at Sighetu Marmației is not a freight gate, and an employer who assumes it is will plan wrongly. It is a historic metal and wood bridge over the Tisza with two pedestrian lanes and single direction vehicle traffic, and it has been through a carriageway and footway rehabilitation with weekday daytime vehicle restrictions after conflict driven traffic wore it out. Weight and vehicle class limits there are not confirmed, so do not assume a lorry can use it at all. The named road alternative for vehicle traffic to Ukraine is Halmeu, in Satu Mare county, which is a full Schengen external border with long lorry queues on record. Route Ukraine loads west to Halmeu and tell the driver so before the first trip.

Employers in Maramureș can use FastDriver.eu to find drivers, advertise genuine vacancies and receive applications through a specialised European driver job portal.
The employer starts by submitting company details, work location, driver category, required licence, number of vacancies, experience level, working schedule, pay information and proposed start date.
The vacancy can then be prepared and promoted to relevant drivers through the platform, alongside the current driver vacancies already open.
Candidates apply for suitable positions. The employer reviews their information, conducts interviews and makes the final hiring decision.
FastDriver.eu does not become the employer. It does not replace the company's legal responsibility for candidate verification, employment contracts, remuneration or working conditions.
Employers that can consider international drivers should clearly state whether work authorisation guidance, visa process support, accommodation or relocation assistance is available.
This information must reflect the employer's actual offer. It must not be added only for search visibility.
Tell us how many drivers you need, the base or town they work from, the licence category, experience, routes, language requirements and proposed employment conditions.
Our team reviews your company details and checks that the vacancy contains what a Romanian driver needs in order to apply with confidence, including the category, whether the work is intern or extern, the atestat position, and salary and diurna stated separately.
The vacancy is prepared, published and promoted according to the selected employer option.
Drivers apply through the platform. The employer reviews applications, communicates with suitable candidates and arranges interviews.
The employer makes the final hiring decision, verifies the candidate and signs the employment contract directly with the selected driver.
When separately agreed, FastDriver.eu may provide immigration process guidance, document coordination and relocation preparation for eligible international candidates.
Complete and accurate information helps drivers understand the opportunity and allows the platform team to publish the vacancy correctly.
Do not request unrelated information.
FastDriver.eu provides the digital platform and any separately agreed support services.
The employer is responsible for confirming the vacancy, independently verifying each selected candidate, checking licence categories and the atestat position, and meeting all Romanian employment obligations.
FastDriver.eu does not issue government approvals.
FastDriver.eu cannot guarantee applications, candidate availability, candidate suitability, interview attendance, hiring, work authorisation approval, visa approval, licence recognition, processing time or continued employment.
All vacancies must be genuine, current, lawful and accurate.
Employers must not request unlawful recruitment or application payments from candidates.
It publishes your driver vacancy and sends the replies straight to you, on a board used only for driver work. You set the pay, choose the contract type, decide who to interview and make the hire. We don't screen anyone on your behalf, and the portal never becomes the employer of anyone who applies through it.
Neither of those. In Romania, a licensed placement agency is a regulated route into third-country hiring, and the difference is not cosmetic. FastDriver.eu holds no such licence, doesn't employ or lease out drivers, and doesn't place them anywhere. Anyone you take on is your employee on your own contract.
Treat that as no. The crossing is a historic metal-and-wood bridge over the Tisza with two pedestrian lanes and single-direction vehicle traffic, and it needs rehabilitation after wartime traffic wore it out. No tonnage limit for it could be confirmed, so plan nothing heavy around it. Halmeu in Satu Mare is the named road alternative.
Not in the way the map suggests. The county genuinely borders Ukraine and genuinely has a Schengen external crossing, but operationally that crossing handles light vehicles and pedestrians. Lorry traffic for Ukraine runs west through Halmeu instead. Any employer page that presents this county as a Ukraine freight gateway has misread the geography.
On national roads, because Maramureș has no motorway and none under construction. The southern approach runs through Dej towards Cluj-Napoca, the northern road runs along the Tisza, and the only eastward route crosses a mountain pass. Quote journey times from the roads, not from the distance on a map.
They are bulky rather than heavy. Furniture and wood products are the county’s employment base, with a single furniture employer of nearly seven thousand staff, so trailers fill by volume long before they reach a weight limit. That favours curtainsider and high-capacity equipment, makes loading time a larger share of the shift, and is worth mentioning in the advert.
None that can be named honestly. The county’s own territorial plan records limited existing industrial park infrastructure and identifies potential locations rather than operating ones, so there is no park to anchor an advert to. Build the vacancy around the plant, the town and the route instead, which is what candidates here recognise anyway.
Smaller than the registered figure suggests. Unemployment here is the third lowest of the six Nord-Vest counties; most of the registered pool is rural, women make up the majority of registered jobseekers, and driver seats in Romania are filled overwhelmingly by men. Add continuous net emigration across three decades, and the reachable pool for a C or C+E seat is narrow.
Western European employers, directly and by name. A German parcel operator advertises categoria B work in Germany at German hourly rates plus a regional allowance, against a town here of under twelve thousand people. Local adverts for international work are also pitched in euros. A domestic vacancy has to compete on something other than the headline figure.
Wider than Baia Mare, even though about half the county’s employees work there. Recruiters already advertise in smaller towns and even villages in this county, which signals where drivers live. Name the pickup point or the depot town, because a candidate in the valley cannot read a countywide advert as being for them.
Categoria C+E for articulated combinations, in that written form, because it is what Romanian adverts and searches use. Categoria C covers rigids, categoria D passenger work. C and C+E can be held from eighteen with the certificate of professional competence, and D from twtwenty-onen the same basis, so a screen set at the old ages misses qualified candidates.
That the heavy categories on the permis de conducere are in date, since they run for five years. The atestat profesional for marfă or persoane. A valid tachograph card, because an expired card stops the driver at the roadside. An ADR certificate if the load requires it. And a current aviz medical and aviz psihologic.
Romanian law treats both as conditions forsafety-criticall transport work, and professional drivers must renew both annually. Exchanging a foreign licence also requires a psychological opinion. Drivers arriving from systems without that requirement will not have arranged either, and neither document can be backdated, so build the time in.
As a basic salary with the diurnă stated separately per calendar day, the allowance makes up a large share of what a Romanian international driver actually receives, and an advert showing only a monthly salary will read as a domestic offer. Say which allowance applies, since domestic and international ones are treated differently.
A single application on the state platform replaced the abolished employment notice, andh the occupationmusto appear on the shortage list. Both goods and passenger driving are on it. Immigration clearance alone isn't enough for international work: a Romanian licence, the professional qualification, the ooperator’sdriver attestation, and a tachograph card follow, in that order.
Whether applications arrive, whether a suitable driver is free, whether anyone attends an interview, whether you hire, whether a permit or visa is granted, whether a licence is recognised, how long a public office takes and how long a driver stays. The portal publishes the vacancy and delivers the answers. Everything after that is yours.
Say which town the yard is in, what the trailer is, whether the load is volume or weight, and whether the week ends at home. Put it on FastDriver.eu and talk to the drivers who answer directly.
