For Alba Employers
Alba is the one county in the Centru region with a working motorway junction, where the A1 and the A10 meet at Sebeș, and that single node shapes almost every driver job here. Gearboxes and transmission components leave Sebeș and Cugir on plant schedules, sawn timber and panel board leave Sebeș in volume, and bulk, silo and tipper work serves the county's stone, timber and agri-food base. Employers hiring in Alba publish a genuine vacancy, name the category and the atestat they want, and deal with applicants themselves.
Your vacancy, your wording • Applications straight to you • Work permission guidance under a separate agreement
Alba is an automotive and timber county whose industry sits in the Mureș valley towns, Sebeș and Cugir above all, while two thirds of its registered unemployed live in rural communes. The freight is bulk, timber and just in time components.
Publish the vacancy at www.fastdriver.eu/jobs/romania, stating categoria C+E or categoria C, saying whether a valid atestat profesional marfă and a current card tahograf are needed from the first shift, and marking the work intern or extern so a driver knows which it is before reading further.
FastDriver.eu publishes vacancies and does nothing beyond that. It is not a recruitment agency and it is not an agent de munca temporara, so it never employs a driver, never supplies one to you and takes no fee on a hire. You advertise, you select, and the contract runs from your company to the driver.
One Alba point worth knowing: the standing lorry restriction on the Bucharest to Brașov national road does not touch this county, because Alba's loads leave on motorway west towards Deva, north on the A10 towards Cluj and south east to Sibiu. More sits on the Romania employer page.
Employers in Alba recruit mainly bulk and silo drivers, timber drivers, trunk drivers feeding the automotive plants, light distribution drivers around Alba Iulia and Sebeș, and the occasional categoria D bus driver in the western communes.
The county's own specialism. Șofer profesionist on categoria C+E running silo and bulk tippers, advertised both intern and pe comunitate out of Alba Iulia, serving stone, timber and agri-food loading points. Silo discharge and tipper hours count for more here than general trailer experience.
Sawn timber and panel products leave Sebeș in volume, with roundwood coming the other way. Categoria C+E on timber trailers and flatbeds, mostly extern, and load securing competence is most of the job. Say whether the run is pe comunitate or domestic rather than leaving it to be guessed.
Transmission components and gearboxes move out of Sebeș and Cugir to fixed plant windows. Categoria C+E on curtainsiders and box trailers, with both intern and extern present. What the employer buys is punctuality against a slot, not distance, and the advert should say so plainly.
A visible three and a half tonne and rigid distribution layer serves Alba Iulia and Sebeș, courier work included. Categoria B or categoria C, strictly intern, driver home nightly. Adverts naming the vehicle and the daily drop count fill faster than ones that describe the route in general terms.
Passenger work exists in the county, including a categoria D opening advertised from Zlatna in the west. This needs the atestat profesional persoane rather than marfă, and the two are separate examinations with the national road authority, so screen for the right one before interview.
Adverts here lose candidates by leaving the trailer type out. A silo, tipper or timber role wants a different driver from a curtainsider role, and in Alba both sit within a few kilometres of each other.
Alba is long and lopsided. The Mureș valley in the east carries the population, the towns and almost all the industry, while the Apuseni uplands fill the west and pull the county's population density down to roughly half of what a driver would find around Brașov.
Sebeș is the hinge. The A1 runs west from it towards Orăștie and Deva and south east towards Sibiu, and the A10 runs north from it to Turda, so a load leaving Sebeș has motorway in three directions.
Alba Iulia is the seat and carries most of the county's driver adverts by a wide margin, with Sebeș a distant second and small numbers at Aiud, Blaj, Teiuș and Zlatna. Depot location decides the realistic catchment here.
Cugir sits off the valley to the south, industrially far larger than its size suggests, and is reached on ordinary roads rather than motorway. Journey time to it is not what a map distance implies.
There is no airport in Alba, and no scheduled cargo operation is documented at the nearest airport in this region either, so the county has no air freight layer at all. Every load in and out is a road load.
Driver work differs sharply between the capital ring, the Black Sea port, the western gateway counties and the eastern border. Open another county to see the hiring information that applies there.
Romanian drivers search in Romanian. An advert written only in English will miss most of the domestic market.
Sofer profesionist is the dominant advert title. Sofer TIR signals international work and is read that way immediately. Sofer camion and sofer de distributie name the vehicle and the job. Conducator auto is the formal register that appears in documents and regulations rather than in adverts.
Intern or extern is the first thing a Romanian driver looks for, because it decides whether they are home each night or away for weeks. Put it in the headline. An advert that leaves it out collects applications from people who withdraw once they find out.
Pe comunitate is the phrase that signals the well paid international segment. It is worth using where it is true, and worth avoiding where it is not, because drivers treat it as a promise about earnings.
Write the licence as C+E. That form appears far more often in real adverts than CE, by a wide margin, and writing it the other way marks an advert as drafted by someone outside the trade.
The qualification is the atestat profesional, for marfa or for persoane. Adverts list it alongside the card tahograf and ADR where the load requires it. Name only what the role genuinely needs.
Pay needs two numbers, not one. Salary and diurna are quoted separately in Romanian adverts, and for international work the daily allowance is a very large part of what a driver actually takes home. An advert that gives only the salary reads as badly paid even when it is not.
Romanian drivers read an advert for the route, the vehicle, the time away and the two pay figures. An advert that answers those four things gets better applications than one that lists benefits.
FastDriver.eu operates as a European driver job portal and allows candidates elsewhere in Europe and in eligible international markets to find and apply for suitable Romanian vacancies.
Start by ignoring most of what is published about this, because the system changed. The separate work permit that employers used to apply for has been abolished and replaced by a single application filed on a state platform. The old route was switched off months before the new platform opened, so guidance written before the change is not just dated, it describes a procedure that no longer exists.
Drivers sit on the shortage occupations list, which is the gate for the main employment route. For a haulier that is genuinely good news and it is the part of the system working in your favour.
The real barrier is not the paperwork. Filing directly requires a trading history, an average headcount above a published threshold and a financial guarantee for each worker. Most Romanian hauliers sit below that headcount, which means they cannot file at all and must go through a licensed placement agency instead. Check which side of that line your company falls on before you plan anything else, because it changes the whole approach.
The annual quota is a single national figure rather than a transport allocation, and it was cut rather than raised. A large share of it is consumed well before the year ends, so an application late in the cycle competes for what is left.
Employers in Alba may receive applications from drivers based in Romania, elsewhere in the EU and EEA, Switzerland, the wider European region, Asia, Africa, Gulf countries, North America, Latin America and other eligible international markets.
EU, EEA and Swiss citizens may work in Romania without an authorisation. A Moldovan national holding Romanian citizenship is an EU citizen and needs nothing, while one without it faces full external border checks, because the Romanian border with Moldova is now a Schengen external frontier. The difference is large and it is worth establishing early in a conversation rather than late.
The employment contract has to reach the national register before the driver starts work, not afterwards. The register changed name and platform recently, and the penalties for undeclared work are severe with a high ceiling, so this is not a formality to leave until the first week.
A candidate's ability to work here depends on nationality, residence status, professional qualifications, driving licence validity and the requirements of the individual position. Nationality alone never settles it. Drivers can check their own position through our driving licence eligibility guidance.
FastDriver.eu can provide process guidance and document coordination when a candidate needs support. It does not make government decisions and cannot promise an approval.
Name the licence category in the advert. A Romanian driver reads it first, and C+E in the headline tells them immediately whether the job is theirs.
Freight work uses C and C+E, with C1 and C1E for lighter rigid vehicles. Passenger transport uses D and D1.
Age limits matter when you are planning a pipeline. C1 and C1E open at eighteen, C and C+E at twenty one and reduce to eighteen for a driver holding the professional qualification. D and DE open at twenty four and reduce to twenty one on the same basis. Heavy categories run five years.
Romania asks for something most member states do not. A professional driver needs an annual medical check and an annual psychological check, and the psychological opinion is also part of the file for exchanging a foreign licence. Employers arriving from elsewhere in the EU are regularly caught out by it.
The atestat profesional is issued by the national road authority, separately for goods and for passengers, and renewed every five years. A shorter conversion route exists for a driver moving between the two, so an experienced goods driver is not starting again to work on passenger transport.
Foreign licences need checking before you make an offer. EU and EEA licences exchange without a test. Beyond that it depends on whether the issuing country appears on the convention or reciprocity lists, and where it does not the driver sits the Romanian theory and practical examination, which they may now do without compulsory driving school.
Several of the countries Romanian hauliers recruit from most heavily could not be found on those exchange lists. That is not a conclusion that they are absent, but it does mean the question has to be settled for the specific country before a contract is signed, not assumed.
A professional qualification obtained outside the EU or EEA is not recognised here. An experienced driver arriving from outside Europe takes the Romanian qualification whatever they held before.
This is where the real timeline lives, and it is longer than most employers expect. The driver attestation that a Romanian operator needs in order to put a third country national on international work requires a Romanian licence and the professional qualification. A newly arrived driver has neither. The tachograph card also requires the work authorisation first. So the sequence is admission, then licence, then qualification, then attestation, and an employer who budgets only for the visa will be short by months.
One thing works in your favour. The professional examinations have been made available in English, which was done specifically to serve drivers recruited from South and South East Asia, so the qualification stage no longer requires Romanian first.
Unlike several other member states, the forklift authorisation in Romania is a genuine state authorisation issued to the individual rather than a permission the employer grants. ADR is required where the load needs it. Verifying the original documents remains the employer's responsibility.
Alba sits outside the standing tonnage restriction on the national road between Ploiești and Brașov, which binds the counties on the far side of the mountains. A heavy vehicle leaving Sebeș reaches Deva, Timișoara and the Hungarian border westward, Sibiu to the south east and, through the A10, Cluj to the north, with no weekday or weekend lorry window to plan around on any of those legs. That is a genuine scheduling advantage over most of this region, and it belongs in the advert rather than being left for a candidate to work out.

Employers in Alba can use FastDriver.eu to find drivers, advertise genuine vacancies and receive applications through a specialised European driver job portal.
The employer starts by submitting company details, work location, driver category, required licence, number of vacancies, experience level, working schedule, pay information and proposed start date.
The vacancy can then be prepared and promoted to relevant drivers through the platform, alongside the current driver vacancies already open.
Candidates apply for suitable positions. The employer reviews their information, conducts interviews and makes the final hiring decision.
FastDriver.eu does not become the employer. It does not replace the company's legal responsibility for candidate verification, employment contracts, remuneration or working conditions.
Employers that can consider international drivers should clearly state whether work authorisation guidance, visa process support, accommodation or relocation assistance is available.
This information must reflect the employer's actual offer. It must not be added only for search visibility.
Tell us how many drivers you need, the base or town they work from, the licence category, experience, routes, language requirements and proposed employment conditions.
Our team reviews your company details and checks that the vacancy contains what a Romanian driver needs in order to apply with confidence, including the category, whether the work is intern or extern, the atestat position, and salary and diurna stated separately.
The vacancy is prepared, published and promoted according to the selected employer option.
Drivers apply through the platform. The employer reviews applications, communicates with suitable candidates and arranges interviews.
The employer makes the final hiring decision, verifies the candidate and signs the employment contract directly with the selected driver.
When separately agreed, FastDriver.eu may provide immigration process guidance, document coordination and relocation preparation for eligible international candidates.
Complete and accurate information helps drivers understand the opportunity and allows the platform team to publish the vacancy correctly.
Do not request unrelated information.
FastDriver.eu provides the digital platform and any separately agreed support services.
The employer is responsible for confirming the vacancy, independently verifying each selected candidate, checking licence categories and the atestat position, and meeting all Romanian employment obligations.
FastDriver.eu does not issue government approvals.
FastDriver.eu cannot guarantee applications, candidate availability, candidate suitability, interview attendance, hiring, work authorisation approval, visa approval, licence recognition, processing time or continued employment.
All vacancies must be genuine, current, lawful and accurate.
Employers must not request unlawful recruitment or application payments from candidates.
FastDriver.eu is a specialised job portal for professional drivers. You write and publish the vacancy, and it appears to drivers looking for work in Alba. Applications arrive with you directly. No shortlist, no candidate database, and no fee on a hire. If a candidate needs permission to work, we provide process guidance and document coordination under a separate agreement.
No, and the distinction matters in Romania because licensed placement agencies are a regulated route into third-country hiring. FastDriver.eu does not employ drivers, place them with an employer in Alba, or supply labour. It publishes the vacancy you wrote. The employment relationship runs from your company to the driver with nothing in between.
Alba Iulia carries the clear majority of the county's driver adverts, with Sebeș a distant second and single figures at Aiud, Blaj, Teiuș and Zlatna. The registered unemployed, though, are mostly rural rather than urban, so a depot in one of the valley towns draws on commuting villages. Name the depot, the shift start and whether transport to site exists.
It does not bind this county. Alba's loads leave on the motorway: west through Orăștie towards Deva and the Hungarian border, north on the A10 towards Turda and Cluj, and southeast to Sibiu. No weekday or weekend lorry window governs those routes, a real planning advantage over the eastern counties of this region and worth mentioning in the advert.
Sebeș is where the investment went and where the labour market is already exhausted. A town of about thirty thousand people absorbed more than a billion euro of foreign investment across automotive, timber, panel board, paper and food, with local unemployment reported as effectively nil. The county rate of under four per cent is a rural figure and does not describe Sebeș at all.
More than anywhere else in this region. Bulk and silo roles are advertised directly from Alba Iulia, and the county's stone, timber, and agri-food base keeps that work running, so candidates with tipper, silo, and timber trailer hours exist here in a way they don't in Covasna or Harghita. Name the trailer type instead of writing a generic categoria C+E advert.
Looser than Brașov, Mureș or Sibiu on the registered unemployment figure, but the comparison flatters it. Two-thirds of Alba's registered unemployed live in rural communes, and about three-quarters have only primary or secondary education, while industrial demand is concentrated in three or four towns. Employers here have reported recruitment difficulty for well over a decade, so compete on terms rather than availability.
None at all. The county has no airport, and no scheduled cargo operations or published freight tonnage are documented at the nearest airport in this region either. Every load into and out of Alba is a road load, which is exactly why the motorway junction at Sebeș matters more here than any terminal would.
Transmission components and gearboxes from Sebeș and Cugir on plant schedules, sawn timber and panel board from Sebeș with roundwood inbound, paper and packaging, dairy from Oiejdea, poultry, wine from Jidvei and bottled water, and furniture from the Italian makers at Sebeș. Alba also leads the region in agri-food exports, so temperature-controlled work is common.
Quote the basic salary and the diurnă separately, and state the diurnă as a daily allowance for days spent abroad. For a Romanian international driver, that allowance is a very large share of take-home pay, so an advert showing only a monthly salary reads as domestic work at domestic rates. No figures belong here, but the structure does, because candidates compare the allowance first.
The aviz de angajare was abolished and replaced by a single application filed on a new state platform. The old route was switched off months before the new one opened, so there was a stretch with no working way in at all. Anything an employer reads elsewhere that still describes an aviz is stale, and they should confirm current timings before making any offer.
Only if it clears the employer threshold, which is the real barrier, not the paperwork. Filing directly requires a trading history, an average headcount above a published figure and a financial guarantee for each worker. Most Romanian hauliers fall below that headcount and must use a licensed placement agency instead. Establish which side of the line your company falls on before planning an intake.
They are, and that list is the gate for the main employment route, so it is genuinely good news for a haulier in Alba. It doesn't buy reserved places. The annual quota is a single national figure, not divided by sector; it was cut rather than raised, and a large share of it goes well before the year ends. Timing matters as much as eligibility.
Longer than the visa alone suggests. The driver attestation a Romanian operator needs for a third-country national requires a Romanian driving licence and the professional qualification, and the tachograph card requires the work authorisation first. The real order is admission, then licence, then qualification, then attestation, so an employer who budgets only for immigration will be short by months.
Both an annual medical opinion and an annual psychological opinion. The psychological check is what surprises employers from other member states, and it also forms part of the file for exchanging a foreign licence. Neither can be produced retrospectively, so say who pays in the advert and build the appointments into the start date rather than the first week on the road.
EU and EEA licences exchange with no examination. Beyond that, it depends on whether the issuing state appears on the convention or reciprocity annexes, and several countries Romanian hauliers recruit from most heavily were not found on the readable lists. Where a state is absent, the driver sits the Romanian theory and practical examination, now without compulsory driving school. Confirm the specific country before offering.
Bulk and silo, timber, automotive trunking or local distribution: set out the category, the atestat, the trailer type and whether the work is intern or extern, and let drivers around Alba Iulia and Sebeș apply to you directly.
Employers in Alba recruit, select and employ their own drivers; FastDriver.eu only publishes the vacancy.
