For Ilfov Employers
Ilfov is the ring county that surrounds București, the smallest in Romania by area and the fastest growing, and its freight exists because the capital sits inside it. Warehouse parks line the north-western arc of the ring road, chilled and ambient distribution runs out of them, and Romania's principal air cargo airport stands at Otopeni. Employers publish a genuine vacancy here, name the categoria and the atestat, and interview and hire for themselves.
One genuine vacancy • Drivers reply to you directly • Permit guidance under a separate agreement
Ilfov holds more modern warehouse space per square kilometre than anywhere else in Romania, almost all of it serving București, and its driver demand is distribution and courier work far more than long haul trunking.
Publish the vacancy at www.fastdriver.eu/jobs/romania. Name categoria C+E, categoria C or categoria B, state whether the atestat profesional and a valid card tahograf are needed from day one, and say plainly whether the work is intern or extern, because in this county the default assumption is intern.
FastDriver.eu is not a recruitment agency and not an agent de munca temporara. It does not employ drivers, does not hold them on books and does not supply them to an Ilfov company. It publishes the advert you write, and the application arrives with you rather than with an intermediary.
One local advantage worth using: the full freight certificate ladder, including both the packaged and the tank variants of ADR and the transport manager qualification, is available commercially from authorised providers in the București and Ilfov area, so a categoria C holder can be upskilled without leaving the county. Hiring rules that hold across the country are on the Romania employer page.
Ilfov employers recruit categoria B distribution and courier drivers in volume, categoria C+E curtainsider drivers on domestic work, temperature controlled distribution drivers, light van drivers on collection rounds, and short radius air freight drivers at Otopeni.
The largest single group in this county's driver adverts. Categoria B rounds supplying shops, markets and depots across the București ring, strictly intern and home every night. Multi-drop discipline and delivery paperwork matter more than mileage. State the vehicle and the round size.
Parcel and courier work for network operators around the ring, GLS among those advertising at Popești-Leordeni. Categoria B, intern, often paid per stop rather than per month. Say which payment structure applies, because candidates compare them closely.
Curtainsider articulated work on domestic runs out of the ring road warehouses, advertised in this county at communes such as Afumați. Categoria C+E with the atestat profesional and a valid card tahograf. Intern, so the driver is generally back in the region rather than away for weeks.
Temperature controlled distribution is a real and growing part of the Ilfov estate, with refrigerated and frozen capacity west of the city let to logistics providers on long contracts. Reefer operation and chilled multi-drop rather than trunking, intern. Say whether the work is frozen, chilled or mixed.
Short radius work for the integrators and scheduled carriers at Romania's main cargo airport, usually categoria B or categoria C and mostly in vehicles under the tonnage restriction threshold. Time critical, document heavy and customs exposed, intern. Say if customs paperwork is part of the role.
Say where the yard is and when the shift starts. In this county those two facts decide whether a driver applies, because the journey to work is longer here than anywhere else in Romania even though the distances are short.
Ilfov is a ring, not a block. It wraps completely around București, every major road and railway out of the capital crosses it, and its largest settlements are suburbs on that ring rather than independent towns with their own hinterland.
The heaviest warehouse concentration is the north-western arc, where the ring road meets the roads running west. CTPark Bucharest West, P3 Park Bucharest West and Logicor Mogoșoaia sit on or close to it, and the draw is direct motorway access westward.
The southern and south-eastern side, around Popești-Leordeni and Glina, is valued for national distribution rather than for western routes, so the work there tends to be trunking out across the country instead of into the city.
The northern side carries Otopeni and the communes around it, close both to the motorway corridor and to the airport. Ștefăneștii de Jos and Afumați sit on this side, and so does the start of the restricted length of DN1.
Treat the whole ring as one labour pool shared with the capital. Around four in ten Ilfov residents work in București, and candidates move across the boundary in both directions without thinking of it as a county border.
Driver work differs sharply between the capital ring, the Black Sea port, the western gateway counties and the eastern border. Open another county to see the hiring information that applies there.
Romanian drivers search in Romanian. An advert written only in English will miss most of the domestic market.
Sofer profesionist is the dominant advert title. Sofer TIR signals international work and is read that way immediately. Sofer camion and sofer de distributie name the vehicle and the job. Conducator auto is the formal register that appears in documents and regulations rather than in adverts.
Intern or extern is the first thing a Romanian driver looks for, because it decides whether they are home each night or away for weeks. Put it in the headline. An advert that leaves it out collects applications from people who withdraw once they find out.
Pe comunitate is the phrase that signals the well paid international segment. It is worth using where it is true, and worth avoiding where it is not, because drivers treat it as a promise about earnings.
Write the licence as C+E. That form appears far more often in real adverts than CE, by a wide margin, and writing it the other way marks an advert as drafted by someone outside the trade.
The qualification is the atestat profesional, for marfa or for persoane. Adverts list it alongside the card tahograf and ADR where the load requires it. Name only what the role genuinely needs.
Pay needs two numbers, not one. Salary and diurna are quoted separately in Romanian adverts, and for international work the daily allowance is a very large part of what a driver actually takes home. An advert that gives only the salary reads as badly paid even when it is not.
Romanian drivers read an advert for the route, the vehicle, the time away and the two pay figures. An advert that answers those four things gets better applications than one that lists benefits.
Ilfov is the county where standard Romanian advert vocabulary works against an employer, because this market reads in the opposite direction from the exporting counties. The words searched here are distribuție, curier and dubiță rather than TIR and pe comunitate, and most of what is advertised is categoria B work on domestic rounds serving the capital. A vacancy led with șofer TIR pe comunitate therefore competes for a narrow slice of the board while the wide slice looks elsewhere. If the role genuinely is international, put extern or pe comunitate in the title so it separates itself from the distribution adverts around it; if it is domestic, say intern or transport național, because that is what most candidates here are actually scanning for. The office titles dispecer and expeditor are also live in this county in a way they are not further south, since international coordination is run from premises around the ring even where the driving is not.
FastDriver.eu operates as a European driver job portal and allows candidates elsewhere in Europe and in eligible international markets to find and apply for suitable Romanian vacancies.
Start by ignoring most of what is published about this, because the system changed. The separate work permit that employers used to apply for has been abolished and replaced by a single application filed on a state platform. The old route was switched off months before the new platform opened, so guidance written before the change is not just dated, it describes a procedure that no longer exists.
Drivers sit on the shortage occupations list, which is the gate for the main employment route. For a haulier that is genuinely good news and it is the part of the system working in your favour.
The real barrier is not the paperwork. Filing directly requires a trading history, an average headcount above a published threshold and a financial guarantee for each worker. Most Romanian hauliers sit below that headcount, which means they cannot file at all and must go through a licensed placement agency instead. Check which side of that line your company falls on before you plan anything else, because it changes the whole approach.
The annual quota is a single national figure rather than a transport allocation, and it was cut rather than raised. A large share of it is consumed well before the year ends, so an application late in the cycle competes for what is left.
Employers in Ilfov may receive applications from drivers based in Romania, elsewhere in the EU and EEA, Switzerland, the wider European region, Asia, Africa, Gulf countries, North America, Latin America and other eligible international markets.
EU, EEA and Swiss citizens may work in Romania without an authorisation. A Moldovan national holding Romanian citizenship is an EU citizen and needs nothing, while one without it faces full external border checks, because the Romanian border with Moldova is now a Schengen external frontier. The difference is large and it is worth establishing early in a conversation rather than late.
The employment contract has to reach the national register before the driver starts work, not afterwards. The register changed name and platform recently, and the penalties for undeclared work are severe with a high ceiling, so this is not a formality to leave until the first week.
A candidate's ability to work here depends on nationality, residence status, professional qualifications, driving licence validity and the requirements of the individual position. Nationality alone never settles it. Drivers can check their own position through our driving licence eligibility guidance.
FastDriver.eu can provide process guidance and document coordination when a candidate needs support. It does not make government decisions and cannot promise an approval.
Name the licence category in the advert. A Romanian driver reads it first, and C+E in the headline tells them immediately whether the job is theirs.
Freight work uses C and C+E, with C1 and C1E for lighter rigid vehicles. Passenger transport uses D and D1.
Age limits matter when you are planning a pipeline. C1 and C1E open at eighteen, C and C+E at twenty one and reduce to eighteen for a driver holding the professional qualification. D and DE open at twenty four and reduce to twenty one on the same basis. Heavy categories run five years.
Romania asks for something most member states do not. A professional driver needs an annual medical check and an annual psychological check, and the psychological opinion is also part of the file for exchanging a foreign licence. Employers arriving from elsewhere in the EU are regularly caught out by it.
The atestat profesional is issued by the national road authority, separately for goods and for passengers, and renewed every five years. A shorter conversion route exists for a driver moving between the two, so an experienced goods driver is not starting again to work on passenger transport.
Foreign licences need checking before you make an offer. EU and EEA licences exchange without a test. Beyond that it depends on whether the issuing country appears on the convention or reciprocity lists, and where it does not the driver sits the Romanian theory and practical examination, which they may now do without compulsory driving school.
Several of the countries Romanian hauliers recruit from most heavily could not be found on those exchange lists. That is not a conclusion that they are absent, but it does mean the question has to be settled for the specific country before a contract is signed, not assumed.
A professional qualification obtained outside the EU or EEA is not recognised here. An experienced driver arriving from outside Europe takes the Romanian qualification whatever they held before.
This is where the real timeline lives, and it is longer than most employers expect. The driver attestation that a Romanian operator needs in order to put a third country national on international work requires a Romanian licence and the professional qualification. A newly arrived driver has neither. The tachograph card also requires the work authorisation first. So the sequence is admission, then licence, then qualification, then attestation, and an employer who budgets only for the visa will be short by months.
One thing works in your favour. The professional examinations have been made available in English, which was done specifically to serve drivers recruited from South and South East Asia, so the qualification stage no longer requires Romanian first.
Unlike several other member states, the forklift authorisation in Romania is a genuine state authorisation issued to the individual rather than a permission the employer grants. ADR is required where the load needs it. Verifying the original documents remains the employer's responsibility.
The tonnage restriction on DN1 begins inside this county, at the Otopeni boundary, and the Ilfov length is the stricter of the two the measure covers. Vehicles of seven and a half tonnes and over are kept off the road running north towards Ploiești through the working day from Monday to Thursday, and then continuously from Friday until the end of Sunday with no overnight window at all, where the continuation beyond Ploiești towards Brașov does leave a short gap on two of those nights. A yard at Otopeni, Afumați or Ștefăneștii de Jos despatching a heavy vehicle northward is therefore running nights midweek and nothing whatever at the weekend. International freight keeps a narrow concession, limited to movement between the nearest junction with another national road and a declared workplace, loading point or customs point, which is access and not a right to transit the restricted length. The measure stands by administrative act and has been suspended before when an alternative route closed, so confirm its present terms with the road authority before a roster depends on it.

It is a job portal for professional drivers and nothing else. You write the advert, it goes live, and drivers looking for work around the București ring see it. Replies come directly to you, with no shortlisting, filtering, or placement fee. Where a candidate needs permission to work, process guidance and document coordination sit under a separate agreement.
It does neither. FastDriver.eu is not a recruitment agency or an agent de munca temporara. This distinction matters in Romania because licensed placement agencies play a regulated role in third-country hiring. The portal never employs or hires out any driver. Your company handles selection, the offer, and the contract.
It does not, and you should correct that assumption before planning a campaign around it. Argeș has noticeably more driver adverts than Ilfov, and București, counted separately as a municipality rather than a county, has several times Ilfov’s volume. Ilfov and the capital together dominate this group, but Ilfov alone does not lead it.
Overwhelmingly domestic work serving the capital. The adverts visible in this county are mostly categoria B distribution, courier rounds and light van collection, with a small number of categoria C+E curtainsider roles that are themselves domestic. This market doesn't mainly offer international TIR work, so an employer recruiting categoria C+E drivers for external running competes with a deep local pool of people who can sleep at home.
Because its administrative centre is not a town inside it, Ilfov is the only Romanian county arranged this way: it wraps completely around București, which lies outside the county boundary, and every major road and railway leaving the capital crosses Ilfov territory. The practical consequence is that the county has no single central town pulling freight towards it, and its work is distributed around the ring instead.
Along the ring road, and most densely on its north-western arc. CTP, P3, WDP, VGP, and Logicor run parks west, north-west, north, and south of the city, while Lidl, eMag, Mega Image, Penny, and Altex operate their own warehouses in the same ring. They chose the west for motorway access, the south and south-east for national distribution, and the north for the motorway corridor and the airport.
It does, though not very much of it by tonnage. Otopeni is Romania’s busiest airport and its main air cargo hub, with a handful of integrator and scheduled freight carriers operating there. Compared with one large warehouse on the ring, the volume is modest. Still, the work is distinct: short radius, time-critical, document-heavy, customs-exposed, and usually in vehicles below the tonnage restriction threshold.
REWE Romania, a grocery retailer with a workforce in the thousands, is the largest employer in Ilfov, is the largest employer in Ilfov, which tells you what the county’s warehouse estate actually exists to serve. Ilfov employment is retail and distribution rather than haulage, and no road freight operator of comparable scale is recorded here. For a recruiting haulier, it means competing with retail and parcel networks for the same licence holders.
Tighter than anywhere else in the country on the registered measure. Ilfov has the lowest registered unemployment of any Romanian county, under 1%, while the national rate is several times higher. The county is also Romania's fastest-growing and gained more than a tenth of its population in just over three years, so the pool is deep, but very little of it is idle.
The longest in Romania over the shortest distance, which is a congestion problem rather than a geography problem. This region records the country’s longest average daily round trip by some margin while covering fewer kilometres than the national average; around half of employees spend at least an hour a day travelling and roughly a quarter spend at least two. Starting early at a ring road warehouse means leaving home much earlier.
Better here than anywhere else in this group, which is a genuine Ilfov advantage. Authorised training providers in the București and Ilfov area offer initial and periodic freight certificates, both packaged goods and tank variants of ADR, and the transport manager qualification. That means a categoria C holder can upskill to tank work without travelling to another county, which isn't true in the nearby southern counties.
Because the restricted length starts on this county’s territory, at the Otopeni boundary, and the Ilfov section is the harsher one. Heavy vehicles are excluded during the working day on most weekdays and throughout the weekend, with no overnight relief. Hence, a northbound heavy run from a yard in this county is a midweek night job and not available at all from Friday to Sunday. Schedules written without that are not lawful.
Keep the salary and the diurnă apart. The daily allowance for days spent working abroad makes up a large share of what a Romanian international driver takes home, so folding everything into one monthly salary line makes a competitive offer look thin. State the basic pay, state the allowance per calendar day away and name the currency of each. Figures themselves do not belong on this page.
One application, submitted on a new state platform that replaced the abolished aviz. The two systems never ran in parallel: the old route was switched off months before the new platform opened, which left a stretch with no working way in at all. Guidance published elsewhere that still describes an aviz is therefore out of date, and timings should be confirmed rather than assumed.
Three further gates. The attestation a Romanian operator holds for a named third country driver on international work requires a Romanian driving licence and the professional qualification, and the tachograph card cannot be issued until the work authorisation exists. So the real order is admission, then licence by exchange or examination, then the qualification, then the attestation. An employer who budgets only for the visa will be months short.
Before the first shift, not after, the contract has to be transmitted to the national register of employees the day before activity begins. That register changed both name and platform recently, so older checklists point to a system that no longer exists. Penalties for undeclared work are severe per person and carry a high cumulative ceiling for the employer, so getting the timing right matters.
Warehouse trunking on the ring, chilled multi-drop, courier rounds or short radius work at Otopeni: name the categoria, the atestat, the yard and the start time honestly, and let Ilfov drivers come to you.
Employers in Ilfov recruit, select and employ their drivers themselves; the portal carries the vacancy and goes no further.
