The statistic most likely to be misread on this page is the benefit claimant share. The district's wholesale supply market and logistics centre covers about nineteen and a half hectares with warehouse modules and a logistics platform, and it is the one confirmed distribution asset here. Carta C or category B by weight, domestic multi-drop across a wide and thinly settled catchment.
With no district advert to copy from, the temptation is to write something generic. Resist it: name the park or the plant the driver will load at, and state the scope honestly, because a vague advert in a thin market reads as a vague employer.
Distance is the first thing a driver here will work out. A hundred and fifty three thousand people live across seven thousand three hundred and ninety three square kilometres, so a depot's recruiting catchment is measured in tens of kilometres rather than suburbs, and an hour of unpaid driving before the shift is a live reason to leave a job.
The aeronautical park outside Évora runs to eight hundred and sixty five thousand square metres across fifteen lots, with two aerostructures factories, one of about thirty seven thousand square metres and one of nearly thirty two thousand, employing about five hundred people between them.
Named occupants of that park include Mecachrome, Air Olesa and Emmad, with further lots assigned to Optimal II, Compendionauta, Perfect Atom and Armor Meca. Ownership of the two aerostructures plants was reported to have changed hands and no current owner is named on this page.
Vendas Novas and Montemor-o-Novo, at about eleven and a half and sixteen thousand residents, carry the component manufacturing. The separate industrial and technology park at Évora offers around four hundred lots across seven hundred and twenty seven thousand square metres for general activity.

Write the licence as C+E. That form appears more often in real adverts than CE.
Two terms that work elsewhere do not work here. Motorista TIR appeared in no advert found, unlike in Romania where it is standard, so an advert using it reads as written from outside the market. Servico iberico was not found either, so describe Portugal and Spain work in plain words rather than reaching for the label. Internacional is the word that signals work beyond the peninsula.
The qualification is the CAM. Adverts list it alongside the cartao de tacografo and ADR where the load needs it. Name only what the role genuinely requires.
Pay needs more than one figure. Portuguese adverts quote a base salary with ajudas de custo, and the TIR premium stated separately where it applies. An advert giving only the base reads as badly paid even when the total is competitive.
Condutor is the formal word that appears in regulations and on documents. Motorista is what the job is called. Use motorista in the advert and keep condutor for the paperwork.

Portugal is more open than most of Europe on this, and it is worth saying plainly because employers rarely believe it. There is no labour market test and no quota for a work visa. You are not required to demonstrate that no Portuguese or EU candidate was available.
What has changed is the way in. The route that allowed someone to enter and regularise afterwards has been abolished, and a great deal of guidance still online describes it. Acting on that guidance would cost months. The visa now has to be obtained before travel.
The same applies to the Portuguese speaking countries route, which was known for allowing entry first and paperwork later. It now requires a residence visa obtained in the country of origin. For Brazilian recruitment in particular, that is the single biggest practical change in recent years.
One planning point is worth more than the rest put together. The residence visa itself authorises work for an initial period, so the start date is not tied to the processing queue for the residence card. Employers who think the driver cannot begin until the card arrives have the sequence wrong and lose weeks to it.
The job seeker visa does not help here. It was restricted to highly qualified work and a driving role does not come within it.
Employers in Évora may receive applications from drivers based in Portugal, elsewhere in the EU and EEA, Switzerland, the Portuguese speaking countries, the wider European region, Asia, Africa, North America, Latin America and other eligible international markets.
EU, EEA and Swiss citizens may work in Portugal without authorisation. Licence validity and the professional qualification still apply to them exactly as they do to a Portuguese driver.
One employer duty has a short fuse and catches people out. The hire has to be reported to Social Security in the twenty four hours before the contract takes effect, not afterwards. There is a second notification to the labour authority before work begins, which almost no published guidance covers. A candidate's ability to work here depends on nationality, residence status, professional qualifications, driving licence validity and the requirements of the individual position. Ages depend on which qualification route the driver took, which is unusual and worth understanding. C and CE open at twenty one, or at eighteen for a driver holding the full professional qualification. D and DE open at twenty four, or at twenty one on the same basis. The shorter accelerated route does not buy the same reduction, so two drivers of the same age can hold different entitlements.
Every heavy renewal needs a medical assessment and a psychological one. Both, not one.
There is an age limit that catches fleets out. At sixty seven a CE entitlement drops to a much lower weight, and the passenger categories end and cannot be renewed. Worth knowing before a rota is built around one driver.
Foreign licence exchange splits three ways, and the middle tier is where offers die. Drivers from the Portuguese speaking countries and from OECD states exchange every category with no driving examination, with a psychological assessment for the heavy ones. Drivers from other convention countries exchange only the light categories directly and must sit Portuguese theory and practical tests for anything heavy. Drivers from countries outside the conventions cannot drive on the licence at all.
Brazil is the one to get right, because of the volume. The recognition arrangement covers car and motorcycle categories only, so a Brazilian driver cannot work heavy on the Brazilian licence. They can exchange into a Portuguese heavy licence without an examination, which is a good position, but the exchange is not optional and it has to happen before they drive for you.
Then there is the ninety day trap. A driver has ninety days from establishing residence to lodge the exchange while still driving. After that they may lodge for up to two years, but they may not drive in the meantime. Past two years a practical test becomes compulsory. Employers plan around the two year figure and miss the ninety day one, and the driver sits idle while the file moves.
A professional qualification obtained outside the EU or EEA is not recognised. The real sequence is exchange the licence, then take the accelerated initial qualification, then pass the aptitude examination. Budget for all three rather than for the visa alone.
Portugal has no state forklift licence. The permission rests on certified training plus the employer's own written authorisation. The driver attestation needed for a third country national is issued by the IMT and requires a declaration from the labour authority that the driver is lawfully employed. Verifying the original documents remains the employer's responsibility.
Two things an employer here can act on. The IMT examination centre is on Avenida Túlio Espança in Évora, beside the bus terminal, so a candidate acquiring or upgrading a licence stays in the district to sit the test, though the published centre list does not state which categories each one examines. Second, and worth watching rather than banking: parliament approved toll exemption on the A6 between the junction with the A2 and A13 and the border at Caia, for residents and companies within the Alto Alentejo and Alentejo Central areas, collected through a device tied to the vehicle registration. Alentejo Central is this district. The reporting does not say when it takes effect or set out the exact eligibility test, so confirm both before you build it into a rate.

Manufacturing parts and accessories for motor vehicles is the second-largest employer in Vendas Novas and the fourth-largest in Montemor-o-Novo, and one municipal description lists automobile assembly among Vendas Novas’s industrial activities. Signalling and certification need about another year, so confirm the service date.
Not on the evidence available. The municipal aerodrome offers plots and hangars for aeronautical activity, which fits the airframe cluster beside it, and we can't confirm any cargo relevance. Plan on road movements to Lisbon for anything that has to fly, and treat the aerodrome as part of the manufacturing story rather than part of the logistics one.
Mostly local manufacturing and care work. Average earnings in this district sit below the national figure. Still, abovee both Portalegre and Beja, so its the bebest-paidf the three Alentejo districts,, ,and ccandidates compare themselves torical equipment plant or an elderly care employer rather than another haulier. Those are the two largest employersgside, construction.
It does, and the change is contractual rather than discretionary. The sector collective agreement sets driver supplements by vehicle weight band and by geographic scope, with a separate monthly allowance for drivers on Iberian and international work, and an appeal court has held that the international supplement is integrated pay owed on every calendar day, including rest days and leave, which cannot be cut back. In contrast, the driver stays on that work.
Rather more than a job offer letter. The document needs both parties identified and signed, the company tax number, an explicit reference to the intended visa or permit, a description of your activity and the driver’s role, pay above the national minimum with payment details, the place and hours of work, a start date at least a fortnight after the application, and references to leave, meal allowance and the holiday bonus.
That route has been closed, and a great deal of guidance still online describes it as though it were open. The manifestação de interesse, which let someone enter and regularise afterwards, has been abolished and the transitional residue has expired. Acting on old advice means employing a person without the right to work. The Portuguese-speaking countries route has tightened in the same way and now requires a residence visa obtained before travel.
Not for this occupation. The job-seeking visa was narrowed to specialised technical competencies and highly qualified activity, which excludes professional driving; a holder who finds nothing must leave and cannot reapply for a year. The usable route for a driver is the residence visa for subordinate employment, applied for in the driver's country of residence, with your contract or declaration of interest behind it.
The state doesn'tissue one, which catches employers arriving from countries that do. WhTheperation lais wful iswithertified training plus your own written authorisation for that person on that machine, so thyourecords yoe the training certificate and the authorisation. Portuguese adverts ask for a certificado de empilhador, meaning the training certificate rather than a government card.
In a district this thinly settled, the advert that wins is the specific one. Name the park, the plant or the town, say what the round looks like, and let the drivers already living nearby come to you.
