For Ostrobothnia Employers
Ostrobothnia is a coastal strip of about 179,000 residents across 14 municipalities, twelve of which have a Swedish-speaking majority. Driving here means cold chain work on a two-day clock out of Närpes, chilled meat from Pietarsaari, pulp and timber at Alholmen and Kaskinen, project cargo around the Vaasa energy technology cluster and ro-ro trailers on the Umeå crossing. A vacancy published on FastDriver.eu reaches that bilingual coast and candidates well beyond it.
Advertise, interview and hire yourself • Local, Nordic, European and eligible international reach • Document coordination under a separate agreement
This is not one labour market. Vaasa at roughly 70,300 residents anchors the south, Jakobstad at about 19,700 the north, and between them sit municipalities such as Närpes and Kaskinen that carry national freight on very small populations.
Say which licence the job needs, C-kortti or CE-kortti, confirm ammattipätevyys and a valid kuljettajakortti, and describe the cold chain or trailer work involved. The country's live vacancies are at www.fastdriver.eu/jobs/finland.
FastDriver.eu carries the advert and leaves the hiring to you. It is not a recruitment agency, it is not a temporary employment agency, it employs no drivers itself, and it supplies nobody to coastal operators under hire.
Here is a local point that surprises employers. Even in municipalities where four fifths of residents speak Swedish, transport vacancies in this region are largely advertised in Finnish, and none of the listings reviewed in research stated a Swedish language requirement. Swedish is the ambient language of work, not usually a formal gate. The Finland employer page covers what applies nationally.
Recruitment here runs across temperature-controlled distribution, pulp and timber haulage, ro-ro and trailer work across the Kvarken, project and abnormal loads, and terminal plant operation.
Advertise kuorma-autonkuljettaja roles for elintarvikejakelu with a C-kortti or CE-kortti, serving Närpes greenhouse produce that reaches shops within two days of picking and chilled meat out of Pietarsaari. Give the loading window and the retail delivery slots.
Yhdistelmäajoneuvonkuljettaja vacancies on a CE-kortti serve the Jakobstad pulp mill and sawmill complex and the forest traffic feeding Kaskinen. Name the mill, the weighbridge routine and whether the round trip fits inside a single shift.
The Vaasa to Umeå crossing takes containers, driverless trailers and classified goods on a four hour sailing, year-round. Say whether the driver accompanies the unit or drops it, and list any ADR classes the traffic involves.
Energy technology components around Vaasa and wind turbine sections through Kaskinen call for lavetti and oversized load experience with a CE-kortti. Describe the escort arrangements, the permits involved and who plans the route.
Kurottajan kuljettaja and yard roles appear at Pietarsaari and around Vaasa alongside construction logistics work. Set out the equipment, the safety cards expected on site and whether any road driving on a C-kortti forms part of the shift.
State the temperature regime and the delivery window. In a region built on food logistics, a driver judges the job by the cold chain discipline it demands, not by the vehicle badge.
The region runs up the coast on Vt8 from Kristinestad and Närpes through Vaasa to Nykarleby and Jakobstad, with Vt3 heading south east towards Tampere and Vt18 inland to Seinäjoki. Vaasa and Jakobstad lie about 100 kilometres apart.
Advertise the two centres separately. A Vaasa depot and a Jakobstad depot draw on different communities, and a candidate in Larsmo or Pedersöre will not treat a Vaasa vacancy as local simply because it is in the same region.
Närpes carries national freight from a municipality of about 9,600 people, through a cooperative of 41 greenhouse growers whose produce reaches shops within two days. Work there is time-critical, year-round and temperature-controlled rather than seasonal.
Forest raw material that the closed Suupohja railway used to carry now moves by road. Employers running to and from Kaskinen should expect more volume on Kt67 than older planning documents assume, on a 14 kilometre approach from the E8 junction.
A Swedish-speaking driver based in Jakobstad or Korsholm can work in Sweden without a language barrier, four hours away by ro-ro. Swedish operators are a live competitor, so pay and rota clarity matter more here than location.
Driver work differs sharply between the capital region, the industrial coast, the eastern border regions and the far north. Open another region to see the hiring information that applies there.
Finnish drivers search in Finnish. An advert written only in English will miss most of the domestic market, and Swedish matters on the west coast and on the islands.
Kuorma-autonkuljettaja is the standard lorry title and linja-autonkuljettaja the bus one. Yhdistelmaajoneuvonkuljettaja covers combination vehicle work, and taysperavaununkuljettaja and puoliperavaununkuljettaja appear where the trailer type is the point.
Distribution work is written as jakelukuljettaja, or as the base title with the work attached, as in elintarvikejakeluun, kappaletavarajakeluun or yojakeluun. CE-kuljettaja is used as a job title in its own right.
Write the licence as C-kortti, CE-kortti or D-kortti. The formal C-luokka form is correct but adverts do not use it, and Finnish employers usually put the category in the headline in brackets rather than burying it in the body.
Ammattipatevyys is the professional competence, carried as code 95. Name it only where the role genuinely needs it.
One term catches employers out. Kuljettajakortti in a Finnish advert means the digital tachograph card, not the competence card, which is the ammattipatevyyskortti. The two are listed separately in real adverts and confusing them will mislead candidates.
Pay is routinely stated as AKT TES mukainen, meaning according to the collective agreement. Adverts also list ADR-kortti and trukkikortti where the work requires them, and tyoturvallisuuskortti is common across logistics roles.
A practical approach is a Finnish advert naming the category and the ammattipatevyys position, with an English version when you also want candidates from outside Finland.
This is the one region in the cluster where Swedish is a genuine working language. Twelve of the 14 municipalities have a Swedish-speaking majority, some overwhelmingly so: Larsmo at 91.6 per cent, Pedersöre at 88.4, Malax at 84.4, Nykarleby at 83.7, Korsnäs at 83.0 and Vörå at 81.3. Vaasa and Kaskinen are bilingual with Finnish majorities and Laihia is the single monolingual Finnish municipality. Expect Swedish in the yard, in the depot and with local customers even where the advert itself is in Finnish.
Use the Finland-Swedish forms rather than Sweden's, and carry both families of job title, because the same institution uses both: Yrkesakademin i Österbotten, which calls itself Svenskfinlands största logistikutbildning, titles its lorry programme Chaufför or Kombinationsfordonsförare and its bus programme Busschaufför, while its own address slugs read lastbilsförare and bussförare. The supporting vocabulary is körkort for the licence, written C-körkort, CE, C1, C1E and D-körkort, yrkeskompetens for professional competence, grundläggande yrkeskompetens for the initial qualification, fortbildning for periodic training, yrkeskompetensbevis for the card, kod 95 on the licence, förarkort for the tachograph card and ADR-körtillstånd for dangerous goods.
Balance it against what candidates actually search. Finnish terms carry nearly all the volume, so publish in Finnish first, with kuorma-autonkuljettaja, yhdistelmäajoneuvonkuljettaja, C-kortti, CE-kortti, ammattipätevyys and kuljettajakortti, then add a Swedish version for local credibility and for the Swedish-speaking municipalities north of Vaasa.
FastDriver.eu operates as a European driver job portal and allows candidates elsewhere in Europe and in eligible international markets to find and apply for suitable Finnish vacancies.
The Finnish Immigration Service, Migri, now decides these applications on its own. The separate labour market decision that the employment office used to issue no longer exists. The driver applies, and the employer then supplements the application with the terms of employment through Enter Finland for Employers.
Two figures shape the offer you can make. The gross salary must reach the published monthly minimum for an employed person, currently 1,600 euros, and supplements such as evening and night work do not count towards it. Driver pay is often built from a base plus supplements, so check the base alone clears the threshold before you advertise.
Availability consideration applies here. Before applying for a driver from outside the EU or EEA, the employer posts the job on Job Market Finland for two weeks on the same terms that the application will carry. The regional work permit guidelines are reviewed twice a year, so check the current position for this region before you plan a timeline.
Employers here may receive applications from drivers based in Finland, elsewhere in the EU and EEA, Switzerland, the wider European region, Asia, Africa, Gulf countries, North America, Latin America and other eligible international markets.
EU, EEA and Swiss citizens may work in Finland without a permit, though a right of residence registration applies beyond three months. Nordic citizens register with the Digital and Population Data Services Agency instead. Licence validity and professional competence requirements still apply to all of them.
Where a Finnish goods operator employs a driver who is a third country national, a driver attestation from Traficom, the kuljettajatodistus, is also required. The operator gives the original to the driver to carry, keeps certified copies and returns it when the employment ends.
A candidate's ability to work here depends on nationality, residence status, professional qualifications, driving licence validity and the requirements of the individual position. Nationality alone never settles it. Drivers can check their own position through our driving licence eligibility guidance.
FastDriver.eu can provide process guidance and document coordination when a candidate needs support. It does not make government decisions and cannot promise an approval.
Name the licence category in the advert. It is the first thing a Finnish driver looks for, and it belongs in the headline.
Freight work uses C and CE, with C1 and C1E for lighter rigid vehicles. Passenger transport uses D and D1. Van and courier roles sit in category B.
Age limits matter when you are planning a pipeline. C and CE open at twenty one, or at eighteen where the driver holds the full professional competence. D opens at twenty four, reduced to twenty three, twenty one or eighteen depending on the qualification held.
Professional drivers in the C and D categories need ammattipatevyys, shown as code 95 on the licence. The initial qualification runs two hundred and eighty hours, or one hundred and forty on the accelerated route by age band, and periodic training runs thirty five hours every five years.
One point widens your field considerably. A driver who already holds competence in one branch can add the other with a thirty five or seventy hour course rather than repeating the initial qualification. That is the route to move an experienced lorry driver into bus work, or the reverse, though it does not by itself grant the licence category.
Foreign licences need care. An EU or EEA licence is valid in Finland while it remains valid. A licence from a contracting state can be exchanged, but a lorry or bus category always requires the full Finnish driving examination, theory and practical. Licences from other recognised states require an examination for every category.
A professional competence obtained outside the EU or EEA is not recognised in Finland. An experienced driver arriving from outside Europe will need the Finnish qualification, or one issued by another EU or EEA state, before they can do the work. Budget realistic time for that rather than discovering it after an offer.
A driver card for the digital tachograph is required on in scope work, and ADR training where the load needs it. A medical certificate applies to the heavy categories and renews more often with age. Say which of these the role actually needs, and remember that verifying the original documents remains the employer's responsibility.

Employers in Ostrobothnia can use FastDriver.eu to find drivers, advertise genuine vacancies and receive applications through a specialised European driver job portal.
The employer starts by submitting company details, work location, driver category, required licence, number of vacancies, experience level, working schedule, salary information and proposed start date.
The vacancy can then be prepared and promoted to relevant drivers through the platform, alongside the current driver vacancies already open.
Candidates apply for suitable positions. The employer reviews their information, conducts interviews and makes the final hiring decision.
FastDriver.eu does not become the employer. It does not replace the company's legal responsibility for candidate verification, employment contracts, remuneration or working conditions.
Employers that can consider international drivers should clearly state whether work authorisation guidance, visa process support, accommodation or relocation assistance is available.
This information must reflect the employer's actual offer. It must not be added only for search visibility.
Tell us how many drivers you need, the depot or town they work from, the licence category, experience, routes, language requirements and proposed employment conditions.
Our team reviews your company details and checks that the vacancy contains what a Finnish driver needs in order to apply with confidence, including the category, the ammattipatevyys position and the shift.
The vacancy is prepared, published and promoted according to the selected employer option.
Drivers apply through the platform. The employer reviews applications, communicates with suitable candidates and arranges interviews.
The employer makes the final hiring decision, verifies the candidate and signs the employment contract directly with the selected driver.
When separately agreed, FastDriver.eu may provide immigration process guidance, document coordination and relocation preparation for eligible international candidates.
Complete and accurate information helps drivers understand the opportunity and allows the platform team to publish the vacancy correctly.
Do not request unrelated information.
FastDriver.eu provides the digital platform and any separately agreed support services.
The employer is responsible for confirming the vacancy, independently verifying each selected candidate, checking driving licences and the ammattipatevyys position, and meeting all Finnish employment obligations.
FastDriver.eu does not issue government approvals.
FastDriver.eu cannot guarantee applications, candidate availability, candidate suitability, interview attendance, hiring, work authorisation approval, visa approval, licence recognition, processing time or continued employment.
All vacancies must be genuine, current, lawful and accurate.

Not as a formal requirement, but it changes how the job works. Twelve of the 14 municipalities have Swedish-speaking majorities, and an employer in Korsholm, Pedersöre, Larsmo or Närpes should expect Swedish in the yard and with local customers. A driver with Finnish and no Swedish can certainly be employed. One with Swedish integrates faster and handles customer contact without help.
Finnish first, then Swedish if you want the coastal reach. Research into live transport listings in this region found that none stated a Swedish language requirement and that the advertising language was largely Finnish, even in municipalities where Swedish dominates daily life. A Swedish version signals that the depot really works in Swedish, which is worth something locally.
Because they are directly employable there and the crossing is short. A Swedish-speaking Finnish driver holding a CE faces no language barrier in Sweden; Umeå is four hours away by ro-ro, and staffing agencies in this region have advertised lorry-mounted crane work for travelling jobs in Sweden. That makes Swedish pay part of your candidate’s comparison whether or not you raise it.
A working short-sea link, not a passenger boat that takes lorries. The vessel offers 1,500 lane metres of cargo capacity, runs year-round with several timed departures daily, carries containers, driverless trailers and classified goods, and crosses in four hours. There is also a Rostock connection at 48 hours. This is why Vaasa is a genuine cross-border hiring location.
It runs year-round, but it is an icebreaking-assisted operation. The Kvarken is the narrowest part of the Gulf of Bothnia, and it freezes, so winter sailings are maintained with assistance rather than cancelled. Build schedule allowance into customer promises and driver rotas, and say in the advert if a role depends on hitting specific sailings.
Because the Seinäjoki- Kaskinen railway is closed, the113-kilometree Suupohja line was shut on safety ground,s with 26 of its 35 bridges in extremely poor conditio;, funding and planning areunderwayy. Still, no reopening date has been set, and everything it carried, principally forest industry raw material, is now on the road through Kauhajoki and Närpes.
More than in any other region in this cluster. Närpes produce moves on a two-day clock from picking to shelf through a cooperative of 41 growers, and Snellman, the largest private employer in Pietarsaari with about 2,000 staff, runs chilled meat distribution. That means fixed loading windows, cold chain integrity and retail delivery slots with very little tolerance for lateness.
Unusually strong experience, yes. The Närpes greenhouse cluster has depended on foreign labour for decades, and the municipality is a recognised national case study in work-based immigration and integration. An employer recruiting non-Finnish drivers will find institutional familiarity with housing, onboarding and language support here that most Finnish regions cannot offer.
No. They sit about 100 kilometres apart with different industrial bases: energy technology and project cargo around Vaasa, pulp, sawmilling and meat processing at Jakobstad. Drivers do not commute between them daily, so advertise each depot separately and name the town rather than the region if you want applications from people who can realistically take the job.
No provider is confirmed on this page. Vamia in Vaasa, Yrkesakademin i Österbotten, and Optima in Jakobsstad arethe region’ss vocational providers, including Swedish-language provision, but none could be verified in research. Check directly. The Swedish-language route is worth investigating specifically, since it could supply Swedish-speaking recruits in a way that is unavailable elsewhere in Finland.
It depends on the cargo. Vaasa at Vaskiluoto takes lo-lo, ro-ro, passenger and bulk traffic on a nine metre draught and operates as a joint gateway with Umeå. Kaskinen is forest-industry oriented with road access dimensioned for oversized cargo including turbine components. Jakobstad serves the pulp mill and sawmill complex at Alholmen.
A specialised job portal for driver vacancies, used across Europe. The employer writes and publishes the advert; drivers along this coast, elsewhere in Finland, across Europe and in eligible international markets can find it, and applications come straight back to the employer. No candidate is pre-selected for you, and no one stands between you and the applicant.
It does neither. There is no recruitment agency function, no temporary employment agency function, no employment of drivers by the portal and no hiring out of labour. You publish the vacancy, you interview, you decide, and the driver joins your payroll under your collective agreement obligations, not somebodyelse’ss.
Legally operating hauliers and forwarders, food and cold chain distributors, forest industry and port contractors, energy technology and project cargo carriers, ferry and terminal operators, and licensed passenger transport companies. The vacancy must be genuine, and the pay, base town, and temperature regime described in the advert must be what the driver actually gets.
They can apply. The exemption from availability consideration covers lorry and special vehicle drivers only in Pirkanmaa and Kanta-Häme, so plan a two-week Job Market Finland posting on identical terms before the permit application, and check the guideline in force for this region. Professional competence obtained outside the EU or EEA is not recognised in Finland.
Everything that decides the hire. You assess applications, interview, verify the licence, the ammattipätevyys, and the tachograph card, set the terms, sign the contract, and remain responsible for working time, cold chain training, and ferry documentation. FastDriver.eu does not verify candidates or documents for you, and it never becomes the employer.
Publish a driver vacancy for Vaasa, Korsholm, Jakobstad, Närpes or Kaskinen, whether the work is cold chain, timber or ro-ro, and reach drivers along this coast, elsewhere in Finland, across Europe and in eligible international markets.
Employers on this coast interview, select and employ their own drivers.
