For North Ostrobothnia Employers
This is the one part of northern Finland where the driver pool is growing. Oulu holds just over half the region's residents, the belt around it at Kempele, Liminka, Ii, Muhos and Tyrnävä keeps expanding, and the Raahe steelworks alone takes in around 70 lorries a day. A vacancy published on FastDriver.eu reaches drivers in that belt, elsewhere in Finland, across Europe and in eligible international markets, and every application comes to you rather than to a middleman.
You advertise and you hire • Candidates from Finland, Europe and eligible international markets • Work authorisation guidance under a separate agreement
North Ostrobothnia reaches from the Raahe steelworks and the Oulu harbours inland through Ylivieska and Nivala to the forests and ski traffic at Kuusamo. About 418,000 people live here, and Oulu doubles as the distribution base for Lapland.
Set out the vacancy with the licence category written plainly, C-kortti or CE-kortti, confirm that ammattipätevyys and a valid kuljettajakortti are needed, and describe the round or the shuttle. Finnish vacancies are listed at www.fastdriver.eu/jobs/finland.
FastDriver.eu publishes driver vacancies and does nothing beyond that. It is neither a recruitment agency nor a temporary employment agency, it takes on no drivers of its own, and it places no workers with employers under hire.
Worth knowing before you fix the pay. Staffing agencies in this region advertise lorry-mounted crane drivers for the steelworks construction site at Boden in Sweden, so industrial building in Norrbotten is pulling drivers out through the same agencies you might use to bring them in. The Finland employer page sets out the national picture.
Recruitment across this region covers crane-equipped combination work, cassette haulage, municipal collection, concrete and site delivery, and early distribution in the tourism east.
Yhdistelmäajoneuvonkuljettaja vacancies with a nosturi and a CE-kortti are advertised around Oulu for construction supply and industrial delivery. State the crane type, whether the driver loads and unloads, and the daily return arrangement.
Kasettiautonkuljettaja roles asking for a CE-kortti carry forest industry traffic into Oulu. Give the terminal and the receiving mill in the advert, because drivers judge cassette work by the site and the turnaround, not by the city.
Jäteautonkuljettaja work in Oulu needs a C-kortti with ammattipätevyys and runs to a fixed route and an early start. Say how early the shift begins and whether the round is urban or spread across the surrounding municipalities.
Betoniautonkuljettaja vacancies are advertised from an Oulu base across the whole of northern Finland and call for a C-kortti. Site access, waiting time and discharge work are what drivers ask about, so describe those in the text.
Varhaisjakaja and early morning distribution roles appear in Kuusamo, serving the tourism east. These are night and pre-dawn shifts on a C-kortti, and the advert should be exact about the hours and about winter road conditions.
If the job involves running north into Lapland, write that into the advert. A large share of Oulu-based work does, and arctic conditions are not something to discover on a first trip.
The region divides into three working areas: Oulu with its growing commuter belt, the industrial coast at Raahe and Kalajoki, and the inland and eastern municipalities through Ylivieska, Nivala, Pudasjärvi and Kuusamo. Drivers read the depot, not the region name.
Kempele, Liminka, Ii, Muhos and Tyrnävä all sit within commuting distance of Oulu and are still adding residents. That is the one driver supply pool in the north that is not shrinking, and it is an argument for a depot south of the city.
Steelworks traffic at Raahe is a discipline of its own. It is a gated industrial site taking around 70 inbound lorries a day, with internal rail movement that includes molten metal, so access rules and induction belong in the advert.
The eastern municipalities are a different job from the coast. Drivers based at Kuusamo, Taivalkoski and Pudasjärvi work inside the reindeer husbandry area, with Vt20 between Panumanjärvi and Taivalkoski named nationally as a high-risk section.
Hailuoto is now reached by a fixed causeway instead of a ferry, and the seasonal ice road went with it. Any routing note or job description still built around ice-road haulage to the island needs rewriting.
Driver work differs sharply between the capital region, the industrial coast, the eastern border regions and the far north. Open another region to see the hiring information that applies there.
Finnish drivers search in Finnish. An advert written only in English will miss most of the domestic market, and Swedish matters on the west coast and on the islands.
Kuorma-autonkuljettaja is the standard lorry title and linja-autonkuljettaja the bus one. Yhdistelmaajoneuvonkuljettaja covers combination vehicle work, and taysperavaununkuljettaja and puoliperavaununkuljettaja appear where the trailer type is the point.
Distribution work is written as jakelukuljettaja, or as the base title with the work attached, as in elintarvikejakeluun, kappaletavarajakeluun or yojakeluun. CE-kuljettaja is used as a job title in its own right.
Write the licence as C-kortti, CE-kortti or D-kortti. The formal C-luokka form is correct but adverts do not use it, and Finnish employers usually put the category in the headline in brackets rather than burying it in the body.
Ammattipatevyys is the professional competence, carried as code 95. Name it only where the role genuinely needs it.
One term catches employers out. Kuljettajakortti in a Finnish advert means the digital tachograph card, not the competence card, which is the ammattipatevyyskortti. The two are listed separately in real adverts and confusing them will mislead candidates.
Pay is routinely stated as AKT TES mukainen, meaning according to the collective agreement. Adverts also list ADR-kortti and trukkikortti where the work requires them, and tyoturvallisuuskortti is common across logistics roles.
A practical approach is a Finnish advert naming the category and the ammattipatevyys position, with an English version when you also want candidates from outside Finland.
FastDriver.eu operates as a European driver job portal and allows candidates elsewhere in Europe and in eligible international markets to find and apply for suitable Finnish vacancies.
The Finnish Immigration Service, Migri, now decides these applications on its own. The separate labour market decision that the employment office used to issue no longer exists. The driver applies, and the employer then supplements the application with the terms of employment through Enter Finland for Employers.
Two figures shape the offer you can make. The gross salary must reach the published monthly minimum for an employed person, currently 1,600 euros, and supplements such as evening and night work do not count towards it. Driver pay is often built from a base plus supplements, so check the base alone clears the threshold before you advertise.
Availability consideration applies here. Before applying for a driver from outside the EU or EEA, the employer posts the job on Job Market Finland for two weeks on the same terms that the application will carry. The regional work permit guidelines are reviewed twice a year, so check the current position for this region before you plan a timeline.
Employers here may receive applications from drivers based in Finland, elsewhere in the EU and EEA, Switzerland, the wider European region, Asia, Africa, Gulf countries, North America, Latin America and other eligible international markets.
EU, EEA and Swiss citizens may work in Finland without a permit, though a right of residence registration applies beyond three months. Nordic citizens register with the Digital and Population Data Services Agency instead. Licence validity and professional competence requirements still apply to all of them.
Where a Finnish goods operator employs a driver who is a third country national, a driver attestation from Traficom, the kuljettajatodistus, is also required. The operator gives the original to the driver to carry, keeps certified copies and returns it when the employment ends.
A candidate's ability to work here depends on nationality, residence status, professional qualifications, driving licence validity and the requirements of the individual position. Nationality alone never settles it. Drivers can check their own position through our driving licence eligibility guidance.
FastDriver.eu can provide process guidance and document coordination when a candidate needs support. It does not make government decisions and cannot promise an approval.
Name the licence category in the advert. It is the first thing a Finnish driver looks for, and it belongs in the headline.
Freight work uses C and CE, with C1 and C1E for lighter rigid vehicles. Passenger transport uses D and D1. Van and courier roles sit in category B.
Age limits matter when you are planning a pipeline. C and CE open at twenty one, or at eighteen where the driver holds the full professional competence. D opens at twenty four, reduced to twenty three, twenty one or eighteen depending on the qualification held.
Professional drivers in the C and D categories need ammattipatevyys, shown as code 95 on the licence. The initial qualification runs two hundred and eighty hours, or one hundred and forty on the accelerated route by age band, and periodic training runs thirty five hours every five years.
One point widens your field considerably. A driver who already holds competence in one branch can add the other with a thirty five or seventy hour course rather than repeating the initial qualification. That is the route to move an experienced lorry driver into bus work, or the reverse, though it does not by itself grant the licence category.
Foreign licences need care. An EU or EEA licence is valid in Finland while it remains valid. A licence from a contracting state can be exchanged, but a lorry or bus category always requires the full Finnish driving examination, theory and practical. Licences from other recognised states require an examination for every category.
A professional competence obtained outside the EU or EEA is not recognised in Finland. An experienced driver arriving from outside Europe will need the Finnish qualification, or one issued by another EU or EEA state, before they can do the work. Budget realistic time for that rather than discovering it after an offer.
A driver card for the digital tachograph is required on in scope work, and ADR training where the load needs it. A medical certificate applies to the heavy categories and renews more often with age. Say which of these the role actually needs, and remember that verifying the original documents remains the employer's responsibility.

Employers in North Ostrobothnia can use FastDriver.eu to find drivers, advertise genuine vacancies and receive applications through a specialised European driver job portal.
The employer starts by submitting company details, work location, driver category, required licence, number of vacancies, experience level, working schedule, salary information and proposed start date.
The vacancy can then be prepared and promoted to relevant drivers through the platform, alongside the current driver vacancies already open.
Candidates apply for suitable positions. The employer reviews their information, conducts interviews and makes the final hiring decision.
FastDriver.eu does not become the employer. It does not replace the company's legal responsibility for candidate verification, employment contracts, remuneration or working conditions.
Employers that can consider international drivers should clearly state whether work authorisation guidance, visa process support, accommodation or relocation assistance is available.
This information must reflect the employer's actual offer. It must not be added only for search visibility.
Tell us how many drivers you need, the depot or town they work from, the licence category, experience, routes, language requirements and proposed employment conditions.
Our team reviews your company details and checks that the vacancy contains what a Finnish driver needs in order to apply with confidence, including the category, the ammattipatevyys position and the shift.
The vacancy is prepared, published and promoted according to the selected employer option.
Drivers apply through the platform. The employer reviews applications, communicates with suitable candidates and arranges interviews.
The employer makes the final hiring decision, verifies the candidate and signs the employment contract directly with the selected driver.
When separately agreed, FastDriver.eu may provide immigration process guidance, document coordination and relocation preparation for eligible international candidates.
Complete and accurate information helps drivers understand the opportunity and allows the platform team to publish the vacancy correctly.
Do not request unrelated information.
FastDriver.eu provides the digital platform and any separately agreed support services.
The employer is responsible for confirming the vacancy, independently verifying each selected candidate, checking driving licences and the ammattipatevyys position, and meeting all Finnish employment obligations.
FastDriver.eu does not issue government approvals.
FastDriver.eu cannot guarantee applications, candidate availability, candidate suitability, interview attendance, hiring, work authorisation approval, visa approval, licence recognition, processing time or continued employment.
All vacancies must be genuine, current, lawful and accurate.
Employers must not request unlawful recruitment or application payments from candidates.
It is the most realistic one in northern Finland. Oulu holds around 217,500 residents, roughly 52 per cent of the region, and the municipalities immediately around it are growing rather than emptying. Add three working ports, a rail junction and a combination vehicle training route at Kempele, and the supply side is stronger here than anywhere else north of the main population belt.
Because Swedish industrial construction is recruiting here directly. Lorry-mounted crane drivers have been advertised in North Ostrobothnia for the steelworks construction site at Boden, through the same staffing agencies local employers use. Norrbotten wage levels are therefore inside your candidate's comparison set, and an advert that leaves pay and shift pattern vague loses to one that does not.
Often yes, because Oulu terminals supply the whole of the north including Lapland. A job advertised as Oulu work can mean regular runs to Rovaniemi and beyond, in darkness and on winter surfaces, for much of the year. Say so in the advert. A driver whose experience is entirely in southern Finland needs that explained before the first northbound trip, not after it.
Not evenly, and the split is worth stating. The reindeer husbandry area covers the eastern and northern municipalities, and Vt20 from Panumanjärvi to Taivalkoski is on the national list of highest-risk sections. Drivers working from Oulu and the coast largely do not meet it. Moving a driver from a coastal round to an eastern one changes the risk profile, not just the route.
Be specific, because this is not ordinary yard work. The site runs to roughly 500 hectares with two blast furnaces, a coke plant and its own harbour, taking around 70 lorries a day and some 50,000 vehicle movements a month, with rail wagons carrying molten iron inside the works. Gate procedure, induction and waiting time are part of the job and candidates should read that in advance.
No. The causeway and bridge from Riutunkari to Huikku carry traffic now, the ferry service has ended and the seasonal ice road has gone with it. The island is reachable by road in about ten minutes, year-round. If your route planning, customer promises or job descriptions still assume a ferry timetable or an ice crossing, they are describing something that no longer exists.
OSAO delivers the 180 credit logistics qualification for combination vehicle drivers at its Kempele campus on Niittyrannantie, about 15 kilometres from Oulu and inside the growing commuter belt. The qualification includes the CE licence and the ammattipätevyys card, with options in temperature-controlled transport, timber haulage and special loads. For building a pipeline rather than filling one seat, that is the useful address.
No. There is no bilingual municipality in North Ostrobothnia and Swedish is not a working language in local transport. Plan for Finnish in the depot, with customers and on site. English functions in Oulu's technology sector but not in haulage, so an English-only driver will struggle here even though the city itself is international.
It is a driver job portal covering Europe. You publish the vacancy, it is visible to drivers in this region, elsewhere in Finland, across Europe and in eligible international markets, and candidates apply to you directly. There is no shortlist prepared for you and no placement fee on a hire, because the portal is advertising space, not an intermediary.
Neither. It is not a recruitment agency, not a temporary employment agency, and it does not hire out labour. Given how much driving capacity in this region already sits with staffing firms, the difference is practical: through the portal the driver is employed by you, on your contract and your terms, with no third party standing between the two of you.
Legally operating hauliers and forwarding companies, steel and forest industry contractors, port and terminal operators, concrete, aggregate and earthmoving firms, waste management operators, retail distribution fleets and licensed passenger transport companies. The vacancy must be genuine, and the pay and shift pattern in the advert must match what the driver will actually be offered.
The depot address, the licence category, ammattipätevyys and tachograph card requirements, the vehicle type, the round or the shuttle, the shift pattern and the pay basis. Finnish employers commonly put the category straight into the headline, and quote pay as AKT TES mukainen. Add whether the work runs into Lapland, because in this region that is the question candidates ask first.
No honest answer sets a date. This is the largest advertised transport market in the north, with a recent regional search showing 88 open positions, so volume is on your side, but so is the competition, including Swedish projects recruiting the same people. Application flow, candidate suitability and interview attendance cannot be guaranteed by the portal or by anyone else.
Yes, they can apply. Outside Pirkanmaa and Kanta-Häme the exemption from availability consideration does not apply to lorry and special vehicle drivers, so an employer here should expect to run the job on Job Market Finland for two weeks on identical terms before the permit application, and check the current regional guideline. Traficom issues the driver attestation, kuljettajatodistus, for third country drivers.
Under a separate agreement it offers process guidance and coordinates documents between the parties. It does not decide anything, does not lodge applications for the authorities and cannot promise an approval, a processing time or a licence recognition. Migri decides the residence permit for an employed person, and Traficom handles licence exchange, examinations and attestations.
All of the hiring. You write the advert, assess applications, interview, verify the licence category, the ammattipätevyys and the tachograph card, agree the terms and employ the driver. FastDriver.eu never becomes the employer, does not check documents on your behalf and takes no part in the employment relationship once a driver starts.
Advertise a driver vacancy for Oulu, the Kempele and Liminka belt, the Raahe coast or the eastern municipalities around Kuusamo, and reach candidates across northern Finland, the rest of Europe and eligible international markets.
Employers in this region select and employ their drivers directly, on their own contracts.
