For Lapland Employers
Driver work in Lapland splits between a dense industrial coast and a very long interior. Chrome ore and ferrochrome shuttle between the Kemi mine and Tornio Works, timber and mill products move through Ajos, and fuel, food and resort supplies run the Vt4 spine to Sodankylä, Ivalo and Utsjoki. Publishing a vacancy on FastDriver.eu puts it in front of drivers in Rovaniemi and on the Kemi to Tornio coast, elsewhere in Finland, across Europe and in eligible international markets, with applications arriving straight to you.
Direct hiring by the employer • Reach across Finland, Europe and eligible international markets • Permit document coordination under a separate agreement
Lapland is Finland's largest region by area and one of its emptiest, with about 176,000 residents across 21 municipalities. Two thirds of them live in Rovaniemi and in the Kemi, Tornio and Keminmaa cluster, which is where drivers can realistically be recruited.
Publish a genuine vacancy, state whether you need a C-kortti or a CE-kortti, say that ammattipätevyys and a valid kuljettajakortti are required, and describe the run and the return time. Current Finnish listings are at www.fastdriver.eu/jobs/finland.
FastDriver.eu is a specialised driver job portal. It does not act as a recruitment agency or a temporary employment agency, it never becomes the employer, and it does not supply drivers under hire to operators in this region.
One local point before you write the advert. The logistics qualification at Lapin koulutuskeskus REDU in Rovaniemi carries a B1.1 Finnish language requirement, so a driver without that Finnish can be employed here but cannot easily be put through the regional training route first. The Finland employer page covers the national position.
Employers here recruit across coastal industrial haulage, mine supply, long-distance resupply on Vt4, seasonal resort transport and site plant work.
Advertise yhdistelmäajoneuvonkuljettaja roles in CE-kortti for the chrome and ferrochrome shuttle between Kemi and Tornio, timber into the Kemi mill and export loads out to Ajos and Röyttä. State whether the driver is home each night.
Kasettiautonkuljettaja work with a CE-kortti is a northern forest industry role and is advertised around Kemi. Name the mill or terminal the cassettes serve, and say whether the shift pattern covers nights and weekends.
Publish linja-autonkuljettaja vacancies in D-kortti for Rovaniemi services and for airport and resort transfers at Kittilä and Ivalo. Passenger work is the one part of the market where English alongside Finnish is genuinely useful.
Kuorma-autonkuljettaja roles with a C-kortti or CE-kortti carry fuel, food and retail stock to Sodankylä, Ivalo, Inari and Utsjoki. These are long single legs, so set out the distance, the overnight arrangement and the relief plan.
Betoniautonkuljettaja, tipper and pyöräkuormaajankuljettaja vacancies appear around Kemi and Tornio, alongside winter loading work at the Kolari car train. Say plainly whether the contract is seasonal, because a good deal of this work is.
Advertise the run you actually have. A vacancy described as Rovaniemi work that turns out to mean weekly trips to Utsjoki will lose the driver inside a month.
Lapland runs from the Bay of Bothnia coast at Kemi and Tornio up the Vt4 corridor through Sodankylä to Ivalo and Utsjoki, with the fell country on Vt21 to the west. A driver judging a commute needs the depot named, not the region.
Nearly all recruitable drivers live in Rovaniemi or in the Kemi, Tornio and Keminmaa cluster. Roles further north are usually filled by people already living there, so plan for relocation or local hiring rather than a daily commute.
Tornio and Haparanda work as a single labour market across the Swedish border, and operators in Norwegian Troms draw on the same people. Your advert competes with Swedish and Norwegian pay levels whether or not you intended it to.
Recruit ahead of the season. Resort resupply, transfer and coach work peaks from November to April, so an advert opened in September fills, while one opened in December competes with every resort operator in the region.
If a role uses Vt21 towards Kilpisjärvi, put that in the vacancy. The corridor is narrow and exposed, a single stuck lorry has closed it for hours, and there is no diversion route around it.
Driver work differs sharply between the capital region, the industrial coast, the eastern border regions and the far north. Open another region to see the hiring information that applies there.
Finnish drivers search in Finnish. An advert written only in English will miss most of the domestic market, and Swedish matters on the west coast and on the islands.
Kuorma-autonkuljettaja is the standard lorry title and linja-autonkuljettaja the bus one. Yhdistelmaajoneuvonkuljettaja covers combination vehicle work, and taysperavaununkuljettaja and puoliperavaununkuljettaja appear where the trailer type is the point.
Distribution work is written as jakelukuljettaja, or as the base title with the work attached, as in elintarvikejakeluun, kappaletavarajakeluun or yojakeluun. CE-kuljettaja is used as a job title in its own right.
Write the licence as C-kortti, CE-kortti or D-kortti. The formal C-luokka form is correct but adverts do not use it, and Finnish employers usually put the category in the headline in brackets rather than burying it in the body.
Ammattipatevyys is the professional competence, carried as code 95. Name it only where the role genuinely needs it.
One term catches employers out. Kuljettajakortti in a Finnish advert means the digital tachograph card, not the competence card, which is the ammattipatevyyskortti. The two are listed separately in real adverts and confusing them will mislead candidates.
Pay is routinely stated as AKT TES mukainen, meaning according to the collective agreement. Adverts also list ADR-kortti and trukkikortti where the work requires them, and tyoturvallisuuskortti is common across logistics roles.
A practical approach is a Finnish advert naming the category and the ammattipatevyys position, with an English version when you also want candidates from outside Finland.
FastDriver.eu operates as a European driver job portal and allows candidates elsewhere in Europe and in eligible international markets to find and apply for suitable Finnish vacancies.
The Finnish Immigration Service, Migri, now decides these applications on its own. The separate labour market decision that the employment office used to issue no longer exists. The driver applies, and the employer then supplements the application with the terms of employment through Enter Finland for Employers.
Two figures shape the offer you can make. The gross salary must reach the published monthly minimum for an employed person, currently 1,600 euros, and supplements such as evening and night work do not count towards it. Driver pay is often built from a base plus supplements, so check the base alone clears the threshold before you advertise.
Availability consideration applies here. Before applying for a driver from outside the EU or EEA, the employer posts the job on Job Market Finland for two weeks on the same terms that the application will carry. The regional work permit guidelines are reviewed twice a year, so check the current position for this region before you plan a timeline.
Employers here may receive applications from drivers based in Finland, elsewhere in the EU and EEA, Switzerland, the wider European region, Asia, Africa, Gulf countries, North America, Latin America and other eligible international markets.
EU, EEA and Swiss citizens may work in Finland without a permit, though a right of residence registration applies beyond three months. Nordic citizens register with the Digital and Population Data Services Agency instead. Licence validity and professional competence requirements still apply to all of them.
Where a Finnish goods operator employs a driver who is a third country national, a driver attestation from Traficom, the kuljettajatodistus, is also required. The operator gives the original to the driver to carry, keeps certified copies and returns it when the employment ends.
A candidate's ability to work here depends on nationality, residence status, professional qualifications, driving licence validity and the requirements of the individual position. Nationality alone never settles it. Drivers can check their own position through our driving licence eligibility guidance.
FastDriver.eu can provide process guidance and document coordination when a candidate needs support. It does not make government decisions and cannot promise an approval.
Name the licence category in the advert. It is the first thing a Finnish driver looks for, and it belongs in the headline.
Freight work uses C and CE, with C1 and C1E for lighter rigid vehicles. Passenger transport uses D and D1. Van and courier roles sit in category B.
Age limits matter when you are planning a pipeline. C and CE open at twenty one, or at eighteen where the driver holds the full professional competence. D opens at twenty four, reduced to twenty three, twenty one or eighteen depending on the qualification held.
Professional drivers in the C and D categories need ammattipatevyys, shown as code 95 on the licence. The initial qualification runs two hundred and eighty hours, or one hundred and forty on the accelerated route by age band, and periodic training runs thirty five hours every five years.
One point widens your field considerably. A driver who already holds competence in one branch can add the other with a thirty five or seventy hour course rather than repeating the initial qualification. That is the route to move an experienced lorry driver into bus work, or the reverse, though it does not by itself grant the licence category.
Foreign licences need care. An EU or EEA licence is valid in Finland while it remains valid. A licence from a contracting state can be exchanged, but a lorry or bus category always requires the full Finnish driving examination, theory and practical. Licences from other recognised states require an examination for every category.
A professional competence obtained outside the EU or EEA is not recognised in Finland. An experienced driver arriving from outside Europe will need the Finnish qualification, or one issued by another EU or EEA state, before they can do the work. Budget realistic time for that rather than discovering it after an offer.
A driver card for the digital tachograph is required on in scope work, and ADR training where the load needs it. A medical certificate applies to the heavy categories and renews more often with age. Say which of these the role actually needs, and remember that verifying the original documents remains the employer's responsibility.
Create a clear driver vacancy containing the role, location, licence, experience, schedule, salary information and employment conditions.
Promote suitable driver vacancies through FastDriver.eu and relevant driver audiences.
Receive applications and candidate information for genuine vacancies published by your company.
Request platform assistance with reaching potentially relevant driver profiles based on the information supplied by the employer.
Receive process guidance and document coordination when a selected international candidate requires work authorisation or a visa.
Request practical assistance relating to candidate arrival, documentation and onboarding preparation when included in the agreed service.
Choose vacancy promotion or supported Pay Per Hire options based on hiring volume and required assistance. Commercial terms must be confirmed before a service begins.
Employers in Lapland can use FastDriver.eu to find drivers, advertise genuine vacancies and receive applications through a specialised European driver job portal.
The employer starts by submitting company details, work location, driver category, required licence, number of vacancies, experience level, working schedule, salary information and proposed start date.
The vacancy can then be prepared and promoted to relevant drivers through the platform, alongside the current driver vacancies already open.
Candidates apply for suitable positions. The employer reviews their information, conducts interviews and makes the final hiring decision.
FastDriver.eu does not become the employer. It does not replace the company's legal responsibility for candidate verification, employment contracts, remuneration or working conditions.
Employers that can consider international drivers should clearly state whether work authorisation guidance, visa process support, accommodation or relocation assistance is available.
This information must reflect the employer's actual offer. It must not be added only for search visibility.
Tell us how many drivers you need, the depot or town they work from, the licence category, experience, routes, language requirements and proposed employment conditions.
Our team reviews your company details and checks that the vacancy contains what a Finnish driver needs in order to apply with confidence, including the category, the ammattipatevyys position and the shift.
The vacancy is prepared, published and promoted according to the selected employer option.
Drivers apply through the platform. The employer reviews applications, communicates with suitable candidates and arranges interviews.
The employer makes the final hiring decision, verifies the candidate and signs the employment contract directly with the selected driver.
When separately agreed, FastDriver.eu may provide immigration process guidance, document coordination and relocation preparation for eligible international candidates.
Complete and accurate information helps drivers understand the opportunity and allows the platform team to publish the vacancy correctly.
Do not request unrelated information.
FastDriver.eu provides the digital platform and any separately agreed support services.
The employer is responsible for confirming the vacancy, independently verifying each selected candidate, checking driving licences and the ammattipatevyys position, and meeting all Finnish employment obligations.
FastDriver.eu does not issue government approvals.
FastDriver.eu cannot guarantee applications, candidate availability, candidate suitability, interview attendance, hiring, work authorisation approval, visa approval, licence recognition, processing time or continued employment.
All vacancies must be genuine, current, lawful and accurate.
Employers must not request unlawful recruitment or application payments from candidates.
The recruitable pool sits in Rovaniemi, which holds about 38 per cent of the region's residents, and in the Kemi, Tornio and Keminmaa cluster, which holds roughly another quarter. Vacancies in Sodankylä, Kittilä, Ivalo or Utsjoki are usually filled by drivers who already live there. Name the depot in the advert and say whether relocation or accommodation help forms part of the offer.
Plan on Finnish. No municipality in Lapland is bilingual, and depot, customer and site communication runs in Finnish. English works in tourism-facing driving around Rovaniemi, Kittilä and Ivalo, where the passengers are international. Sámi holds official status in the Sámi homeland, but that affects public services rather than haulage. If you will accept English speakers, say which roles that applies to.
Between 4,000 and 5,000 reindeer are damaged or killed on Finnish roads each year, peaking from October into January, and three of the national high-risk sections lie in this region: Vt4 from Rovaniemi to Sodankylä, Vt4 from Vuotso to Ivalo and Vt21 from Kihlanki to Muonio. Every collision needs a 112 call and an insurance report, however slight. State that drivers are briefed on that procedure.
It is. Norwegian farmed salmon moves south through Kilpisjärvi in volume, lorry and bus crossings there roughly doubled over a decade, and across one winter 58 vehicles left the road or became stuck on the route, 31 of them between Palojoensuu and Kilpisjärvi. A single jackknifed lorry has closed the road for up to nine hours with no diversion available. Candidates should know that before applying.
The hiring calendar here runs the opposite way to most of Europe. Tourism peaks from November to April, which is when resort resupply, waste collection, transfer and coach work is heaviest, and it is also the hardest period to drive in. Advertising in September for a November start gives you a field. Advertising in December means bidding against every operator in the region at once.
Both have been closed since the eastern border shut, and there is no reopening date. Regional freight has rotated from an east to west pattern into a north to south one, so a Lapland operation is built around the Vt4 spine, the coastal ports and the Swedish and Norwegian crossings. Do not describe an eastbound corridor in a vacancy, because there is nothing running on it.
Lapin koulutuskeskus REDU delivers the logistics vocational qualification at its Jänkätie unit in Rovaniemi, with lorry driver, bus driver and combination vehicle driver paths. That is one campus serving a region of 100,000 square kilometres, and it sets a B1.1 Finnish language requirement. The local pipeline is usable but narrow, so hiring drivers who already hold their licence and ammattipätevyys is often quicker.
Tornio and Haparanda function as one labour market, so a Tornio depot draws from both sides of the river. The same works in reverse: Swedish employers, and Norwegian operators in Troms, are recruiting the same drivers. A vacancy advertised here should be specific about pay, shift pattern and home time rather than relying on the location to do the selling.
FastDriver.eu is a driver job portal operating across Europe. An employer here publishes a genuine vacancy, the advert reaches drivers in Finland, elsewhere in Europe and in eligible international markets, and applications arrive directly. Nothing passes through an intermediary, and you decide who is interviewed and who is offered the job.
No. It is a job portal. It is not a recruitment agency and not a temporary employment agency, it does not employ drivers, and it does not supply workers under hire. That distinction matters in a region where a large share of driving capacity is placed through staffing firms: here you advertise your own vacancy and employ the driver yourself.
Publishing options and any fees are agreed with FastDriver.eu before the vacancy goes live. Work authorisation guidance, where a candidate needs it, sits under a separate agreement. Nothing purchased here buys a guaranteed application, a guaranteed hire or a guaranteed permit decision, and the portal does not promise candidate availability in a market this thin.
Legally operating hauliers, forest industry and mine contractors, fuel and retail distribution companies, concrete and earthmoving firms, coach operators and licensed passenger transport companies. The vacancy has to be real and the terms stated in the advert have to be the terms of employment, including pay, which Finnish driver adverts routinely quote as AKT TES mukainen.
It is the professional driver competence, shown as code 95 on the licence. The initial qualification runs to 280 hours, or 140 hours on the accelerated route, with 35 hours of periodic training every five years to keep it current. Note the trap in Finnish adverts: kuljettajakortti means the digital tachograph card, which is a different document from the ammattipätevyyskortti.
They can apply and you can consider them. The exemption from availability consideration for lorry and special vehicle drivers applies only in Pirkanmaa and Kanta-Häme, so expect to advertise the post on Job Market Finland for two weeks on the same terms before a permit application, and check the current regional guideline. A professional competence obtained outside the EU or EEA is not recognised in Finland.
Under a separate agreement it can give process guidance and coordinate documents. It does not make government decisions, does not apply on your behalf and cannot promise that a permit will be granted or that it will arrive by a given date. The residence permit for an employed person is decided by Migri alone, and the employer files its own part of the application.
You do. The employer writes the advert, reviews applications, interviews, checks documents, sets the terms and signs the contract. FastDriver.eu never becomes the employer and does not verify anyone's paperwork for you, so the licence category, the ammattipätevyys and the tachograph card should all be checked directly before a driver starts work.
Publish a driver vacancy for Rovaniemi, the Kemi and Tornio coast or the fell resorts, and reach drivers in Lapland, elsewhere in Finland, across Europe and in eligible international markets.
Lapland employers interview, choose and employ their drivers themselves.
