Kotka carries ordinary local distribution and van work alongside the quayside trades. Name the round area, the daily drop count and the licence category, and say whether ammattipätevyys is needed, because a van round often does not require it.
Be exact about the vehicle and the site. Port work and rail terminal work are separate trades in this region, and an advert that blurs them will bring in applicants who cannot do half the shift.
Kymenlaakso has two centres about 50 km apart: Kotka on the coast with Hamina to its east, and Kouvola inland. Vt15 connects them, and Helsinki is roughly 130 km away, which is past a comfortable daily commute.
Kotka and Hamina form the coastal sub-market, built around the quays, the container terminal at Mussalo and the cargo handling operators working them. Hamina also carries the data centre construction traffic.

Distribution work is written as jakelukuljettaja, or as the base title with the work attached, as in elintarvikejakeluun, kappaletavarajakeluun or yojakeluun. CE-kuljettaja is used as a job title in its own right.
Write the licence as C-kortti, CE-kortti or D-kortti. The formal C-luokka form is correct but adverts do not use it, and Finnish employers usually put the category in the headline in brackets rather than burying it in the body.
Ammattipatevyys is the professional competence, carried as code 95. Name it only where the role genuinely needs it.
One term catches employers out. Kuljettajakortti in a Finnish advert means the digital tachograph card, not the competence card, which is the ammattipatevyyskortti. The two are listed separately in real adverts and confusing them will mislead candidates.
Pay is routinely stated as AKT TES mukainen, meaning according to the collective agreement. Adverts also list ADR-kortti and trukkikortti where the work requires them, and tyoturvallisuuskortti is common across logistics roles.
A practical approach is a Finnish advert naming the category and the ammattipatevyys position, with an English version when you also want candidates from outside Finland.

The Finnish Immigration Service, Migri, now decides these applications on its own. The separate labour market decision that the employment office used to issue no longer exists. Two figures shape the offer you can make. The gross salary must reach the published monthly minimum for an employed person, currently 1,600 euros, and supplements such as evening and night work do not count towards it. Driver pay is often built from a base plus supplements, so check the base alone clears the threshold before you advertise.
Availability consideration applies here. Before applying for a driver from outside the EU or EEA, the employer posts the job on Job Market Finland for two weeks on the same terms that the application will carry. The regional work permit guidelines are reviewed twice a year, so check the current position for this region before you plan a timeline.
Employers here may receive applications from drivers based in Finland, elsewhere in the EU and EEA, Switzerland, the wider European region, Asia, Africa, Gulf countries, North America, Latin America and other eligible international markets.
EU, EEA and Swiss citizens may work in Finland without a permit, though a right of residence registration applies beyond three months. Nordic citizens register with the Digital and Population Data Services Agency instead. Licence validity and professional competence requirements still apply to all of them.
Where a Finnish goods operator employs a driver who is a third country national, a driver attestation from Traficom, the kuljettajatodistus, is also required. The operator gives the original to the driver to carry, keeps certified copies and returns it when the employment ends.
A candidate's ability to work here depends on nationality, residence status, professional qualifications, driving licence validity and the requirements of the individual position. Age limits matter when you are planning a pipeline. C and CE open at twenty one, or at eighteen where the driver holds the full professional competence. D opens at twenty four, reduced to twenty three, twenty one or eighteen depending on the qualification held.
Professional drivers in the C and D categories need ammattipatevyys, shown as code 95 on the licence. The initial qualification runs two hundred and eighty hours, or one hundred and forty on the accelerated route by age band, and periodic training runs thirty five hours every five years.
One point widens your field considerably. A driver who already holds competence in one branch can add the other with a thirty five or seventy hour course rather than repeating the initial qualification. That is the route to move an experienced lorry driver into bus work, or the reverse, though it does not by itself grant the licence category.
Foreign licences need care. An EU or EEA licence is valid in Finland while it remains valid. A licence from a contracting state can be exchanged, but a lorry or bus category always requires the full Finnish driving examination, theory and practical. Licences from other recognised states require an examination for every category.
A professional competence obtained outside the EU or EEA is not recognised in Finland. An experienced driver arriving from outside Europe will need the Finnish qualification, or one issued by another EU or EEA state, before they can do the work. Budget realistic time for that rather than discovering it after an offer.
A driver card for the digital tachograph is required on in scope work, and ADR training where the load needs it. A medical certificate applies to the heavy categories and renews more often with age. Say which of these the role actually needs, and remember that verifying the original documents remains the employer's responsibility.

Fundamentally. Since the eastern border closed, commercial road traffic across it has been prohibited and the transit corridor that once ran through Virolahti no longer exists. Two things follow: never describe a job as transit or eastbound, and remember that the drivers who did that work, many with container and international experience, are still in the region and available.

Google has run a data centre at Hamina on a converted paper mill site; its investment in the region is over 2 billion euros, supporting roughly 4,300 jobs directly and indirectly, and a far larger commitment now covers Hamina among several Finnish sites. Expect competition for tipper, plant and crane drivers while the build runs.
Choose one and say so. Kotka and Hamina mean port and terminal work with CE as a baseline and construction haulage alongside it. Kouvola means rail intermodal: shuttle runs, HCT combinations and the warehouse traffic of the companies clustered at Tehola and Kullasvaara. Ekami covers the coast from Kotka, and KSAO covers Kouvola inland; both run the logistiikan perustutkinto. The arrangement matches the region’s twin centres: a coastal intake feeds the port and terminal roles, while a Kouvola intake feeds the rail terminal and its logistics cluster. Migri assesses the gross minimum on base pay, excluding evening and night supplements, which matters for port and shift work. A Finnish goods operator employing a third-country national driver also needs a driver attestation, kuljettajatodistus, from Traficom before that driver works.
The licence may; the qualification often will not. EU and EEA licences remain valid while valid; a licence from a contracting state can be exchanged, but a lorry category always requires the full Finnish driving examination, and other recognised states need an examination for each category.
